Baron Considering Switch
December 27th, 2006 by Wayne Garcia in WhatnotRandy Baron, the Old Seminole Heights neighborhood president who is filed to run for the Tampa City Council Dist. 1 seat against incumbent Gwen Miller, is giving serious thought to switching to a neighborhood district, No. 6, which is an open seat upon the retirement of Mary Alvarez.
The Dist. 1 race is very crowded right now (with a total of five announced candidates), while the Dist. 6 race is expected to feature former Tampa City Councilman Charlie Miranda. The only candidates who have filed paperwork so far are Lisa Tamargo and former state Rep. Bob Henriquez, who is widely expected to drop out once Miranda makes it official.
