A rough list of last year’s favorites

Happy New Year! I just got back from a much-needed vacation, so I didn’t get a chance to share my favorite albums of 2007. So here’s my very rough list of several standouts. It’s a small sampling of the 200-300 albums I listened to — and that might be a conservative estimate. See you in ’08.

    lily\\\’s came out 2006 - I was gonna put it on my own best of and found out I was too late. Doh.

    Actually, it came out in the UK in 2006. It was released in the U.S. in January 2007.

    doh! i always think that allmusic.com’s date on releases is the US one not the UK one. well it’s on my list then!

    Allmusic.com is usually on-point, but it sometimes fudges dates. Lily Allen was a unique case, though — it got so much hype overseas that U.S. writers began reviewing it in the fall of 2006. Also, the album was originally supposed to come out by the end of that year, but the label pushed it back to January to avoid year-end competition.
