Videos: Senor Kaos’ ‘Girls Rock Too Remix’ vs. Gucci Mane’s ‘Stoopid’
March 2nd, 2009 by Rodney Carmichael in Music newsCall it a study in contrasts.
These two Atlanta-based artists — and their respective videos — couldn’t be further removed from one another, contextually-speaking. That’s exactly why we’re pairing them up in this post.
Senor Kaos’ new video for the “Girls Rock Too Remix” is illustrated by the words he raps in this ode to the historic accomplishments of the opposite sex. Directed by Jeanius Media and produced by Illastrate, it’s release is timed with Women’s History Month.
Gucci Mane’s new video for “Stoopid” is animated — most likely due to the rapper’s ongoing incarceration. The song is about the lavish lifestyle Mane lives, and the video features him evading police after breaking out of jail to cruise the town and indulge.
Two alternative videos from two very different rappers. Even though you’d never hear them on the same radio station, it’s interesting to put them side-by-side and consider the range of rap music coming out of Atlanta.

Man that Gucci Mane song/video is the worst thing I’ve heard in a minute.. and that says ALOT. Long gone are the days where a cat like this wouldn’t event get a chance to even LOOK at a microphone.. let alone record some retarded ish like this man.
Its music like his that gives Atlanta Hip-Hop a bad name.
shouts to the cats like kaos/binkis/clan destined/collective efforts/liuns den/ etc that consistently bring quality music.

Big Up to Kaos for putting out some real quality ish. I feel there is a time and place for all music, I just prefer to hear music like Girls Rock too remix. Hip Hop will never be the same as the 80s and 90s, but WE NEED BALANCE!!!!!! I’m gald to see that Gucci stepped outside of the typical video box tho.

Sorry guys. Not everything can be Heiroglyphics and Aesop Rock.
Just about everything that comes out of Atlanta I think is great.
From Collective Efforts to Pyshci Oragami (sp?) to Soulja Boy
A hip hop snob is worse than the snobs nerds at estoria. Stick together. Whats good for the goose…

Yes, Wesley. Gucci Mane is alive and well. And getting DUI’s at the Henry County exit that my parents live at.
No kidding. I really hope hes in jail for something harder than getting stopped at a check point at the Eagles Landing exit in Stockbridge.
(and I do like that song. fuck yall!!)

Opposite ends of the spectrum of hip-hop. Someone is pushing in the wrong direction…it ain’t hard to tell!

Even though both songs are dope to me, I can’t see how they can be paired side by side at all. Gucci Name’s song is made for the day time radio and Senor Koas’ song is made for the underground shows. Defintely a “study in contrast” because there is no comparison.

Both artist have their respective followings. Diversity is good. We need commercial radio to bring balance and show love to artist such as senor kaos. I won’t hold my breathe waiting for that to happen.
