DOOM postscript: ‘The character that I hired, he got paid for it’

I’m a little late on this, but it looks like DOOM has finally, unequivocally, admitted that other people have performed for him at his shows.
HipHopDX: So just to get it out of the way, can you address the recent scandal where you were allegedly sending an impostor to perform in your mask at DOOM concerts?
DOOM: [Laughs] Alright. Here’s how I look at it, because the wording in there is kinda funny. “Impostor.” Impostor would imply that the character. I liken it to this: I’m a director as well as a writer. I choose different characters, I choose their direction and where I want to put them. So who I choose to put as the character is up to me. The character that I hired, he got paid for it. There’s no impostor.
So there you go. To my knowledge this is the first and only time he’s admitted as much, although in this Rolling Stone item he comes close.
It’s probably nice for all of his fans to know they’re not crazy, to know for sure that the skinny guy lip-synching on stage at MJQ Concourse in December 2007 wasn’t actually him.
Now that he’s fessed up, nobody who pays money for a DOOM show can say they weren’t warned. And that applies to anyone thinking of heading up to Minneapolis for the Rhymesayers’ Soundset ‘09 show next month.
Then again, with a lineup that sick — including Atmosphere, the Pharcyde, Brother Ali, Freeway & Jake One, Immortal Technique, P.O.S and a bunch of other Twin Cities rappers you probably haven’t heard of but are first rate — it might be worth going anyway.

Anyone who has ever read the Fantastic 4 comics will be able to tell you that all Dr. Doom did for years was build robot versions of himself and send them out to do his dirty work… Surely this was coming a mile off! All we have to worry about now are his plans to take over the world.
