Devin the Dude rescheduled for Fri., June 19. Camp Lo tonight
June 5th, 2009 by Rodney Carmichael in Music news
Good news and bad news.
The bad: Tonight’s Devin the Dude show at Ambient Plus Studio has been rescheduled for Friday, June 19 at Apache Cafe.
According to show promoter Jabari Graham of Shameless Plug (the same promotions team that threw the recent, mega-successful Drake show at the Loft) issues with tonight’s venue (no air conditioning) and lackluster advance ticket sales were the cause.
While enthusiasm for the show has been in full swing (CL ran a show preview this week), Graham rationalizes that typical Devin the Dude fans probably aren’t the type to rush out and buy advance tickets. Agreed. The location may have also been a hindrance, being that Ambient Plus Studio isn’t a well-known venue, he said.
As a common courtesy, Graham says they plan to have cigarillos on site at Ambient tonight for smokers Devin fans who may arrive unaware of the cancellation. They also plan to honor tickets pre-sold for tonight’s show at the June 19 Apache concert.
The Good: The Devin the Dude cancellation makes the choice about which hip-hop show to attend tonight much easier.
Scheduled for the same time the Devin show had been scheduled for, Camp Lo will perform tonight with Binkis Recs, Señor Kaos, Catalyst & Ty-Vicious. Hosted by Fort Knox with DJs Jared Alan, Bill Steady, and Mafioso. $10. 10 p.m. Cenci, 1259 Glenwood Ave. 404-627-0533.
