Corndogorama with a camera phone, day 1

Athens band Modern Skirts headlined day 1 of the Corndogorama on Saturday night. The heat was brutal during the day and didn’t let off much after the sun went down, and a brief spell of rain made everything soggy, then humid. Still, the vibe was mellow, and the chunk of real estate upon which this year’s Cornodog landed is spacious. Although it never felt crowded, it wasn’t empty by any means, at least by the end of the night.
The new location feels right, but needs more places to hide from the heat. It is June in Georgia after all. Sitting in the summer heat and sweating for the sake of a good time and good music is one thing, but when you add the grease and girth of a steady intake of corndogs staggered throughout the day, washed down by however many hot PBRs it takes to get the job done, the body moves in slow motion. Such was the case for many who were willing to suffer for their music at Corndogorama XII.
At the end of the night, best estimates put it at somewhere just over 1,000 people had attended from beginning to end. When asked if it was success? David Railey laughed, “I think so, but I don’t know. Ask me tomorrow.”

Modern Skirts’ show was fairly epic in scope, especially with that big percussive number at the beginning. But in terms of sheer energy and consistently awesome songs, Howlies stole the show just as the rain subsided.
The Earl’s promoter Patrick Hill caught with a corndog.
Frederick Noble won the mustache contest. The prize? A Corndogorama T-shirt and a watermellon.

Next year connect Corndogorama to the EARL & have bands in there as well plus into the night or I ain’t goin’. It would be so easy to manage a corridor between the new grounds and the EARL and the fest would not stop at 11pm. Can’t we all just get along? We’re all in this together. Listen to more dub and chill the f out.

I don’t think The Earl & Corndog man are on speaking terms anymore. I also think the most interesting & original local bands are not on speaking terms with Corndog man either!!!! The past catches up

charley you ignorant slut, you couldn’t be more wrong! the creator of corndogorama is a musician and has been in bands for nearly 20 years and contributed more than any misinformed little twit like you could ever. He and the Earl have already done several other shows together this year and are on good terms. AS far as not paying local bands or being on speaking terms?, any local band that brought no one doesn’t deserve to get paid, this went for the corndog’s at the Earl and Lenny’s. Furthermore, back in the old days. nobody ever cared about that, they were just glad to have an audience to play for and supported someone that supported them. If nobody comes how can you pay them? You’re stupid and should check your facts before you open your cowardly mouth behind you’re computer, bitch!- xo. dick, that’s right dick
