Pine hosts final free Thurs., Star Bar show this week
An eclectic mix of fringe folk-punk, electronic and neo-soul and new wave fills the bill
Pine Magazine is hosting their final free Thursday night show this week at The Star Bar. Since Jan. ‘08 Pine has brought more than 100 bands to play these shows.-
For this last hurrah the line-up features an eclectic roster of acts that includes performances of folk-punk story telling from the Wild, mathy and electronic post-rock via This Piano Plays Itself, brittle and etheral strings/electronic pop tones from Tealights and the neo-soul/new wave sounds of Night Moves Gold.-
There will also be DJ sets from Justin Hughes (Glen Iris, ex-Batata Doce, ex- Lady’s Night, ex-rock*A*Teens) and DJ Press Play.-
According to a post that went up on Pine this morning:-
Our Star Bar series started with Soundlab 84, ISP and Pine back in January 2008 and, since then, more than 100 bands have played our free First Thursday shows, including: T Model Ford, Missile Command, Club Awesome, Hollow Stars, Hawks, Lay Down Mains, Deleted Scenes, Surfer Blood, Gold Standard, Thy Mighty Contract and many, many, many others. Many. It’s been a lot of fun.-
The show is free and the music starts promptly at 10 p.m. The Star Bar, 437 Moreland Ave. 404-681-9018.
