Future of the Left consists of singer/guitarist Andy “Falco” Falkous and drummer Jack Egglestone, both previously of Cardiff band mclusky, alongside singer/bassist Kelson Mathias, formerly of the Ammanford-based group Jarcrew. … The band were signed to Too Pure who had also signed Mclusky, however the umbrella company Beggars Group disbanded Too Pure transferring the band to 4AD; most famous for signing the Pixies in the mid eighties.
Wed., Oct. 28 Lead by saxophone player Julian Julien, Fractale is a Parisian five-piece jazz/electro ensemble that melds traditional jazz and rock ideas with improvisation and a computer-generated bent to arrive at a simple, melodic sound. The music is cinematic in scope, and vastly experimental. $8. 9 p.m. Eyedrum. 404-522-0655.

Thurs., Oct. 29 Russian Circles, Young Widows, Coliseum Chicago trio Russian Circles’ latest album, Geneva is a tumultuous, instrumental ride through scraping ambiance and melodic rock where songs build tension via compelling, metallic restraint. Louisville’s Young Widows will most likely steal the show with a set of noisy, reverb-drenched dirges. Fri., Oct. 30 Gogol Bordello, Apostle of Hustle
Gogol Bordello has been breaking down musical barriers since 1999 with a supercharged music based on a brutal gypsy two step rhythm that sounds like an Eastern European cousin of ska, augmented by punk, metal, rap, flamenco, roots reggae, Italian spaghetti western twang, dub, and other sounds generated by gypsies and rebels from across the globe. This is intense transglobal rebel rock, not light headed world fusion pop. It’s about believing that music and art can transform negative energy to positive and inspire individual intelligence.

Sat., Oct. 31 Former Unicorns alumni Nick Diamonds (vocals, guitar) and J’aime Tambeur (drums) bring their new group Islands back to Atlanta for a Halloween show with synthesized, psychedelic indie pop in support of their latest release, Vapours. Anticon cohorts Why? mesh nasally, spoken-word bouts with quirky and reflective indie rock. Former Be Your Own Pet front lady Jemina Pearl performs a set of reckless and irreverent new wave/pop-afflicted rock songs. Sat., Oct. 31 Halloween is one of those holidays when it’s OK to really get into a cover band, and this year the Black Sabbath tribute band Hand of Doom makes it easy. Featuring members of Hawks, Blame Game, Vera Fang and others, the robbed soothsayers of the apocalypse peel through an hour-long set of your favorite Sabbath riffs, complete with costumes, the promise of onstage drug use, booze and various other satanic debaucheries. Who Killed Marilyn?, a Misfits tribute band featuring members of Vera Fang, Facehugger and Thy Mighty Contract, tear through 12 Glenn Danzig classics to open the Sat., OCT. 31, black mass. $5. 10 p.m. 529, 529 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-228-6769.

Sat., Oct. 31 Noot d’ Noot, Gentleman Jesse, the Coathangers Psych-funk 10-piece Noot d’ Noot headlines this fiercely local Halloween bill with a set of spaced-out set of super soul and surrealism. Atlanta power-pop song craftsman Gentleman Jesse says that he may have some Halloween tricks up his sleeve, but he won’t give it up before the show.
