Jeff Mangum to crawl out of hole, perform

Stroke: Songs For Chris Knox, a collection of all-star covers for ailing Tall Dwarfs frontman Knox, has now spawned a benefit show in New York

Figuratively speaking, that is. Back in December, we reported that reclusive Neutral Milk Hotel honcho Jeff Mangum had come out of hiding to record a cover song for a benefit album, Stroke: Songs For Chris Knox. That record, a collection of all-star covers for ailing Tall Dwarfs frontman Knox, has now spawned a benefit show - an equally star-studded affair at New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge (The Red Fish; thank you, three semesters of French!) that will take place on May 6.

The biggest shit about all this? Mangum’s gonna perform!

In addition, we are pleased to announce the night will include a very special short acoustic performance by Jeff Mangum, the first public performance he will have done in over a decade since the final performances of Neutral Milk Hotel.
