‘T.I.’s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go’ premieres tonight on MTV

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

T.I. — whose real name is Clifford Harris — will allow MTV cameras to document as he attempts to help seven troubled kids find the silver lining in their lives — all a part of the 1000 hours of community service he must complete before heading to prison in March. As T.I. counts down the days until he is behind bars for weapons charges stemming from 2007, he invites the world into some of his most personal times and thoughts in hopes to redeem himself by helping others redeem themselves.

“T.I.’s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go” premieres tonight, Feb. 10 at 9 p.m. on MTV.

WMRE hosts Localsfest 2009

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Emory University student radio station WMRE (currently broadcasting on channel 26 on Emory’s campus) will host its annual Localsfest on Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. at the Harland Cinema.

Localsfest, known for introducing local up-and-coming Atlanta bands, is at it once again. This year Poison Arrows will be a featured band at the festival. The group walks a fine line between punk and power pop music circa ‘79 through their strutting guitars and sneering pop songwriting.

The N.E.C. takes things in a decidedly more primitive garage rock direction.

Carnivores will open the fest with their “Walls of distorted sound.”

This is an event you defintely will not want to miss. Grab a friend and come out and support the local bands. For shows times, parking and ticket information check out WMRE.

Deering and Down

Deering & Down

Creative Loafing’s own music guru, Chad Radford will be celebrating his 34th birthday this evening at 529 in East Atlanta (across from the Flatiron). Come out and support our workaholic music writer as he takes advantage of some much needed party time. The event will feature performances from Deering & Down, a two-piece from Memphis, Tenn., with a certain country appeal. Greg King, singer and lead songwriter from Carbonas, will also be on hand with his new band G.G. King, as well as Predator, the rugged punk trio who’s sounds are highly influenced by groups such as Buzzcocks, Trouble and Crime.

529. $3. 9 p.m. 529 Flat Shoals Rd. 404-228-6769. www.529atl.com.
