Where is the love for Chuck?? My favorite series – just wonderful (and smart) fun. Also a huge fan of Friday Night Lights – first rate stuff, all the way around. You will laugh and have your heart broken in the same scene. And Lost rounds out my top 3, but you are already a fan there.

PS – Pushing Daises is just excellent. I enjoyed it enormously and was very sad to see it go. Swoosie Kurtz and Kristin Chenowith – how can you go wrong?

Listen to the advice about Friday Night Lights. And it doesn’t matter if you care about football or high school, because neither are what this show is all about. It’s about LIFE, with all it’s wide range of ups and downs. It just happens to be SET around a HS football team. While the writing can occasionally be a tad predictable, the acting is SO good that you won’t notice. This show is so well cast and so strikingly different in it’s production that it just leaves your going “Wow” time after time.

I didn’t mention ‘Flight of the Conchords,’ ‘30 Rock,’ ‘The Office,’ ‘Arrested Development’ or ‘Mad Men’ only because I’m already a fan of them all. (And, alas, ‘Arrested Development’ is no longer on the air, but rumor has it that a movie version is inching towards reality.)

I saw the first two episodes of ‘True Blood’ and I enjoyed their view of the Lurid South, but they didn’t really hook me:

Definitely True Blood and Dexter, if you don’t mind blood and gore, in an intelligent, funny and entertaining way.

Yeah, why was It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia not mentioned, or Flight of the Concords? These are awesomely funny (moreso Always Sunny), and Flight of the Concords for its kitsch.

Oh yeah, and Burn Notice can suck it.

True Blood!

All the best elements of dark humor, gothic horror, sci-fi, and social commentary (the whole vampires as the new gays is f’n brilliant).

First season is out on DVD now, with Season 2 cranking up next month.

Tudors – if you want to be highly entertained with dynamic acting, beautiful costums and free range sex (almost), without having to think if it’s plausible in today’s world (since it takes place 500 years ago and is based on history), Jonathan Rhys Meyers is actually very believable as the young H8. (Even the historical experts agree that the Young Henry as portrayed by JRM is very close to probability.)
Damages – Is very intelligent and Glenn Close, who is NOT one of my favourites, is fascinating in her role. John Hurt is also excellent.
Pushing Daisies, Torchwood and Dr. Who = Barf!

As soon as I saw the question, I immediately thought “Dexter.” You literally cannot go wrong with this show. Also, highly recommend “Californication.” “Tudors” is good if you’re in the mood for excess drama and unnecessary beheadings.
“Burn Notice” is really unsatisfying. If you’re into “Lost” and “BStar G,” you’ll like “Fringe,” I imagine. I am and I do.

Are we talking live, TiVo-able TV or on DVD?

If DVD: Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Mad Men are all good.

If live, Ti-Vo-able: The Real Housewives of NJ is a trainwreck and fabulous. (One of the moms is a former coke-head stripper, according to gawker.com.) Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List always makes me laugh (and cringe a little, too). Top Chef’s new season is coming up in June, as is Entourage’s. The other new shows HBO is promoting for the summer look inane or crude. I miss Deadwood (profane, not crude) and Big Love and Rome… There’s True Blood, if you like sex-crazed, violent vampires.
