Not ALL publishers are Twitter-averse – Canadian publisher @HouseofAnansi is doing a marvellous job with its social media strategy on Twitter and its blog and Penguin’s got Canadian, UK and US Twitter accounts.

I agree totally re the wording of Ms Hoffman’s ‘apology’ – at least to the extent of its being totally inadequate. ‘If’ I’ve done anything to offend when one has set out deliberately to offend and harass just doesn’t cut it – in fact, it’s a lot like saying ‘I’m sorry you’re too stupid to understand what I really meant.’

As for your assessment of her work – I’ve tried to read and tried to like a couple of Hoffman novels. They didn’t – erm – take. If I’m in the mood for something really light and chick-lit-ish, I’d rather read Sophie Kinsella or Helen Fielding or Melissa Banks.

I’m still trying to find out if anyone who pilloried her on Twitter and elsewhere have *read* the book in question to find out if the reviewer was indeed “a moron.” Bueller? Bueller?
