Add some extra excitement to this beautiful weekend by heading to these free art events. See what’s going on around town after the jump.

TONIGHT (Friday)

See Atlanta through different eyes while sipping your espresso drink of choice at the opening of Beep Beep Gallery’s new show “Views of the City” at Aurora Coffee. The exhibit features works from artists with varying styles and different relationships to this great city of ours. Free. 7-10 p.m. Aurora Coffee L5P. 404-271-6340. www.beepbeepgallery.com.

Join The Atlanta Creatives Project and Art Department in their celebration of Atlanta’s rich music scene. “A Night of Music and Photography: Portraits by Needa Abghari” features over 30 photographs of this city’s most influential DJs and producers in their studios. Get the chance to meet a few of these music heavyweights–some of whom will be performing and others who just want to mingle–and give them a pat on the back for making Atlanta the musical mecca we know and love. Free. 7-11 p.m. Art Department: Studioplex. www.artdepartmentgallery.com.

SATURDAY

At Cabbagetown’s Chomp and Stomp not only can you taste some of the meanest chilis in the south, suck down tasty beer, and listen to great live bluegrass, you can do it all while you stroll through an eclectic art market. Enjoy works from established Atlanta galleries (such as Beep Beep) as well as work from awesome local up-and-comers. Free. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Cabbagetown Park. www.chompandstomp.com.

Flora Rosefsky presents her latest work at The Sycamore Place Gallery & Studios in Decatur. “Ephemeral Transformations: Collage & Assemblage” is half an abstract exploration of the second day of creation, and half a visual narrative on family and care giving. Both aspects of the exhibition incorporate temporary papers, fabrics and found objects. Join the artist for a talk about her works and inspirations at 8 p.m. during the opening reception. Free. 7-9 p.m. The Sycamore Place Gallery & Studios. 404-377-7747. http://www.myspace.com/sycamoreplace.

SUNDAY

Second Sundays at the High provide artsy fun for the whole family, and this month is no exception. Bring your brood to Spaces and Places for an afternoon of architecture exploration. Activities will include tours and talks about the architects of the High and other Atlanta buildings, as well as workshops in modernist sculpture, mobile making, and architectural masterpiece building. Even you mommas and papas will enjoy this one. Free with museum admission. 1-4 p.m. The High Museum of Art. 404-733-HIGH. www.high.org.
