Art House Co-op opens Sketchbook Project at MODA

Traveling exhibitions — such as Louvre Atlanta, or the ongoing (though nearly concluded) museological battle between King Tut and China’s first emperor — are typically reserved for Atlanta’s larger, higher profile institutions. While there’s such a thing as a nationally calibrated indie arts tour, rarely does one ever originate here.

Art House Co-op breaks the mold with its Sketchbook Project Tour, a collection of mixed-media Molskine journals by more than 2,000 international artists. Although Art House has orchestrated sketchbook shows in the past (the current iteration is dubbed “Volume 3″), it’s taking this one on the road, likening the project to “a concert tour, but with sketchbooks.” After visiting cities such as Philadelphia, St. Louis, Brooklyn, and Washington, D.C., the show returns for an opening at the Museum of Design Atlanta this Thurs., April 2 at 7 p.m.
