The Salvador Dalí Museum volunteers, staff and Mayor Rick Baker invite the public to “Surrealize the Dream,” a groundbreaking for the new museum, which will nearly double in size to 66,450-square-feet. After the ceremony, attendees can take a free guided tour of the current museum. Looking for an out-of-the-box holiday gift? How ’bout some gorgeous handmade pottery? This weekend’s Tour de Clay of Tampa Bay spotlights 13 members of the Florida Westcoast Ceramics Society. Each studio hosts its own kiln openings on Saturday, throwing demos on Sunday, and all display bowls, cups, plates, vases, decorative pieces and plenty else. The 130-voice St. Petersburg College Concert Chorus and Madrigalians stage their annual Candlelight Holiday Concert. This year’s theme is “The Nativity in Carol and Song” and the program includes seasonal classics like “O Come, O Come,” “Emmanuel,” “A Child Is Born in Bethlehem,” Handel’s “Hallelujah” chorus, and Beethoven’s “Hallelujah” from Mount of Olives. Swedish Club of Tampa Bay and Studio@620 observe the Swedish Advent-Christmas tradition with a Sankta Lucia Celebration, an evening of readings and storytelling about the history of Lucia in both English and Swedish, Swedish songs, and authentic “glögg” (Swedish spiced hot wine) and “pepparkakor” (gingersnap cookies).
