Reel Projections: Tarantino’s Kill Bill gets a makeover
January 21, 2009 at 1:56 pm by Joe Bardi
Rumors have been kicking around for some time that Quentin Tarantino is planning to recombine the excellent Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2 into one complete film on DVD. Of course, that was before the director ditched the continental 48 for Europe to shoot this summer’s Inglourious Basterds starring Brad Jolie. Fortunately, QT has gone on the record again, stating that Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will be a reality, and that the filmmakers have even gone back and added a brand-spankin’ new, 7 minute anime sequence to the film. Though there’s still no release date (Amazon has a link to product they claim has been “discontinued by the manufacturer”), expect to see this package drop sometime right before the release of Basterds. It’s called corporate cynergy, yo!

Yes, it’s yet another new Watchmen spot. With the number of teasers and previews Warner Bros. has released, some enterprising YouTuber could probably put together a pretty good composite of the final film using nothing but the official 30-second clips. Or, we can all just be patient and wait for March 6.
Checking in with our favorite area movie houses: Tampa Theatre is currently in the midst of a double-dose of Oscar bait revivals, with Vicki Cristina Barcelona wrapping up its return engagement today and Rachel Getting Married starting a week-long run on Jan. 23.
Meanwhile, Beach Theatre has it’s final scheduled showing of cool cult vampire flick Let The Right One In this Friday. In coming weeks, Beach is planning free broadcasts of the Super Bowl (Feb. 1) and the Oscar telecast (Feb. 22), both presented in High-Def and with Dolby sound. Beach also list Slumdog Millionaire and Milk as coming attractions, but I have no release dates for you yet. Stay tuned …
Thanks for keepin’ it Reel!
