Worst public service announcement ever!
February 12, 2009 at 4:42 pm by Joe BardiWhoever thought that throwing Casper Van Diem into a Starship Troopers-themed PSA to raise awareness of child abuse was a good idea really needs to start looking for other work.
I’ve got two major problems with this:
First off, a parent who sees this PSA without knowing anything about Starship Troopers is liable to believe the film is suitable entertainment for a child. It isn’t. In reality, Starship Troopers is an incredibly violent and graphic R rated film that kids should not be watching. Yes, I know kids can get access to whatever media they want, and with it’s mix of war, boobies and giant insects, Starship Troopers is what kids want. Still, do we need to trick parents into being enablers?
Second, and much more important, the PSA is terrible! Van Diem’s stale line-reading is pathetic, and that green-screen background is a riot. Honestly, this PSA may be trying to raise awareness of child abuse, but i reality, it is child abuse.
Man I miss G.I. Joe.
