May marks National Masturbation Month and the Masturbate-a-thon

Forget other holidays this month, like Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day, May is National Masturbation Month! “Masturbation Month was originally started in 1995 by a company called Good Vibrations to protest firing U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders” (Associated Content). Even though the month is almost half over, you can still celebrate in your own special way. And don’t forget to mark your calendars: the 28th is National Masturbation Day, a great way to end the month of May.
Some people take this national celebration very seriously. Take, for instance, the Masturbate-a-thon, that takes place every May in San Francisco (go figure): an all-day event hosted by the Center for Sex and Culture to raise money for sex education programs by people pledging money for the length of time the participants can pleasure themselves. The title of the event pretty much says it all, and some of the events include the men’s and women’s timed event, men’s distance record, and women’s tag team event.
The men’s World record was broken this year by Masanobu Sato, who was able to last 9 hours and 58 minutes before succumbing to orgasm. The U.S. men’s distance record was also broken, with Flint Greasewood (probably not his real name) shooting his load a distance of 5 feet, 4 inches.
Apparently, this event is catching on with major cities like London, Denmark, and Portland (Oregon) now hosting their own yearly Masturbate-a-thons. If you can’t make it to one of these this year, make plans to next year or try starting one in a city near you. (I can see this going over well in Tampa.)
