Going to the movies is a fun activity for kids during the summer. However, with high prices, many parents might be debating whether or not to catch a flick on the big screen. The good news is that there are a few theaters offering free and discounted movies for kids.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays Muvico is hosting a free Summer Film Festival and AMC is hosting a Summer Movie Camp with $1 admissions every Wednesday through Aug. 5. Both movie theater companies are raising money for charity by offering these free and discounted films.

Muvico will donate a portion of the proceeds from special concession items to the Will Rogers Institute. A portion of all admission and concessions from AMC Summer Movie Camp will benefit Variety- The Children’s Charity and the Will Rogers Institute. Show times are only at 10 a.m. and for select films. The mission of the Will Rogers Institute is to perpetuate the memory of Will Rogers by promoting and engaging in medical research pertaining to cardio-pulmonary diseases and educating the general public on topics of health and fitness.

The U.S chapters of Variety- The Children’s Charity, are a multi-million dollar philanthropic organization with locations throughout the United States. Starting with a baby left on the doorsteps of a movie theater in 1928, they have continued to be a group of local business men and women, many of whom hail from the theater and movie business, reaching out to children in need. Today, through the efforts of their enthusiastic volunteers and generous corporate contributors, they remain true to their heritage by bringing children real, tangible help.
