Hailing from San Jose, Calif., the Watch Band — featuring the pouting, Mick Jagger-influenced lead vocals of Dave Aguilar, the thrilling guitars of Sean Tolby and Mark Loomis, the solid bass of Bill Flores and the thumping drums of Gary Andrijasevich — made all the right scenes in San Jose, including appearances with the Syndicate of Sound and Count Five.

Transit – C’mon and Ride 7″
Produced by Jack White, this was written and recorded by the  drivers, cleaners, mechanics, and office workers of the Nashville Metro Transit Authority.  The b-side is called “Afterparty” so I guess the job’s not so bad.

Various Artists – Porno Groove: Sound Of ‘70s Adult Cinema
A collection of music from Fantasy Production’s incredibly deep soundtrack library — funk from the ‘70s. On pink vinyl.

Jack White – Fly Farm Blues 7″
Written on the spot at the request of film director Davis Guggenheim while filming the new guitar documentary It Might Get Loud. The film features in-depth looks at White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page’s relationships with the six-stringed instrument. Some astute viewers may recognize this attic room as the same used by Jim Jarmusch in his video for the Raconteurs’ “Steady As She Goes.” This 7″ is a special one-sided 45 RPM.

Hank Williams – Hank Williams: The Unreleased Recordings At the peak of his career in 1951, Hank Williams recorded 143 songs for the Mother’s Best Flour Company. Hank sang with his regular studio band and recorded his hits as well as many songs he never recorded commercially anywhere else. Hank Williams: The Unreleased Recordings, is a historic collection drawn from the Mother’s Best recordings.

Arctic Monkeys – Humbug

Tim Buckley – Live at the Folklore Center, NYC: March 6th, 1967
This previously unreleased recording was captured by folk impresario Izzy Young at his famed Folklore Center, which served as a nexus for up-and-coming singer-songwriters during the folk boom of the late ’60s. The entire night’s concert, performed in front of about 35 people, is presented in its original running order of 16 songs, six of which are Tim Buckley compositions that have never appeared on any studio or live album.

James Carter & John Medeski – Heaven on Earth
Saxophonist James Carter and organist John Medeski lead a supergroup featuring Christian McBride (bass), Adam Rogers (guitar) and Joey Baron (drums). Jam-jazz at its most exhilarating, recorded live at the Blue Note in New York.

Cheap Trick – Sgt. Pepper Live
In a reprisal of their concerts, Cheap Trick salute the 40th anniversary of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper with a track-by-track rendition that features the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, an Indian music ensemble, and an array of special guests.

Woody Guthrie – My Dusty Road 4xCD
Released in coordination with the Woody Guthrie Archives, this four-disc boxed set is the definitive edition of Woody Guthrie’s mid-1940s recordings. The sound quality is superb, taken from newly discovered original metal masters. The set includes many of Woody’s best-known songs, along with traditional material and collaborations with Cisco Houston and Sonny Terry.

Heliocentrics – Fallen Angels: Singles Collection
A collection of rare and exclusive tracks from Malcolm Catto and the Heliocentrics. Included are tracks such as the DOOM feature “Distant Star” and Guilty Simpson’s “Before I Die” alongside a multitude of offerings that span the gamut from deep jazz (“The Oracle”), deep funk (“The Gorn”) and deep psychedelia (the title track, the epic “Vibration Of The Fallen Angels”).

Matt Hires – Take Us To The Start
Atlantic Records debut for the Tampa native. Matt Hires will be playing a free, home-town in-store at Vinyl Fever this Sunday!
