Kevin White’s sex trial could cost taxpayers close to $500,000, or 9.1 hookers

Since my last post on Commissioner Kevin “Pimp Daddy” White (where I thought it might be cheaper for taxpayers just to have paid for a hooker for the poor guy), I decided to do some research on what hookers in Tampa really cost. I thought they might get as much as attorneys (who charged the County $250 an hour to defend them in the case against White so far costing taxpayers $170,000). According to this article, I was wrong. These two prostitutes in the article offered services to officers for $150 and $100. So, lets go with the higher number for arguments sake.
This article from the Times says the costs to the taxpayers for White’s suit (not the Italian one the lawsuit) could approach $500,000. This is why the hooker alternative would have been cheaper … at $150 a pop (so to speak) that is 9.1 hookers every day for an entire year. White could have even had four friends over and given them each a hooker for an hour each day for a year and we still would have been way better off!
Since the voters in District 3 delivered White to us I think it is only fair that if taxpayers are indeed assessed for White’s sins then it should be taken out of any projects scheduled for their district. That is one way to make sure they pay attention before voting the next time (especially since he is running again). Oh and it looks like White is no stranger to costing taxpayers large sums of money.
Commissioners have a say in this and they are supposed to discuss who pays for this little disaster during their next meeting on Sept 2nd. You can contact them here and let them know what you think. As they struggle with budget decisions (like should they fund parks or continue to pay for Jim Norman’s luxury box at the stadium) they now have Mr. White’s extra-curricular activities to ponder.
To sum it up:
Cost to date incurred by the County (taxpayers) for their defense in this case $170,000
Award to Alyssa Odgen that the County (taxpayers) might have to foot $75,000.
Cost of Ms. Ogden’s attorney that the County (taxpayers) might have to pay $216,634.
Seeing White start down the same road as Ex-Commissioner Brian Blair.……………Priceless.
