Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band – Between My Head and the Sky
Between My Head and the Sky is resplendent with mind-melting blend of styles and sharpening themes while, like its forward-thinking author, plunging into the always-mysterious future.

Norman Blake Featuring Nancy Blake and James Bryan – Sleepy Eyed Joe: Essential Recordings
Guitarist and vocalist Norman Blake is a treasure of old-time American music whose sweeping repertoire includes fiddle tunes, country songs, rags and traditional ballads. He has also been widely heard as a session guitarist with everyone from Bob Dylan to Robert Plant & Alison Krauss.
Nick Cave & Warren Ellis – White Lunar
Double-disc collection of soundtrack recordings.
Ray Charles – The Genius Hits the Road
1960 concept album reflecting a dozen songs devoted to various parts of the U.S., now with 7 bonus tracks.
John Fahey – Twilight on Prince Georges Avenue: Essential Recordings
John Fahey’s steel-string acoustic guitar playing laid the foundation of an entire school of folk-based instrumental guitarists, from Leo Kottke to Peter Lang and Will Ackerman. Yet, there’s no mistaking the mesmerizing feeling and sound of the original. While his repertoire was rooted in blues and folk forms, Fahey tapped influences and especially tonal palettes from around the world. Here are the best of the solo guitar pieces he recorded for Rounder’s subsidiary label Varrick.
David Gray – Draw the Line CD/2xCD
Ripe with melancholic beauty, key tracks on the album include the sublimely layered “Fugitive,” the pensive “Draw the Line” and the emotive composition “Nemesis.” Also features two duets with Jolie Holland and Annie Lennox. Deluxe double disc edition includes a bonus nine-track live CD and is packaged in a hard cover digipak sleeve. Includes a bonus 7” featuring the single “Fugitive” with the non-album B-side “Jitterbug” free with purchase at Vinyl Fever (while supplies last)!
Grin – All Out
Those who think that Nils Lofgren’s career began with After The Gold Rush and Crazy Horse’s first album need to rewind a bit more. Nils did use his exposure from his work with Neil Young to win a record deal, but his band Grin’s greatness was what attracted Neil in the first place. This 1972 LP came out on Epic just over a decade before Nils was in turn drafted by the Boss.
Robin Guthrie – Carousel
Best known for his innovative guitar work in the 80’s surreal dream-pop pioneering trio Cocteau Twins, Robin Guthrie remains exceptionally busy and productive, plying his distinctive sound with a non-stop series of instrumental albums.
John Hartford – Good’le Days: Essential Recordings
John Hartford was a banjo player, fiddler, singer, songwriter, steamboat pilot, author, artist, dancer and historian who took his tradition-based music to a very large audience, especially through his appearances on The Smothers Brothers Show and on The Glen Campbell Good Time Hour. His song “Gentle on My Mind” became a major hit, and was covered by Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin. Here are the best of his recordings for Rounder and Flying Fish (where he won a Grammy in 1976 for his album Mark Twang).
Monsters of Folk – Monsters of Folk
Monsters of Folk (pictured) is a collaboration by Conor Oberst, Jim James, M. Ward and Mike Mogis (one of the most sought-after producers working today).
Gary Numan – Pleasure Principle 2xCD
30th Anniversary Edition. Pleasure Principle was the point where the singer became a huge international solo star, even reaching the Top 10 in the United States with “Cars.” The album pioneered electronic pop music on a new scale — it was a much bigger success worldwide than Kraftwerk’s releases or anything from the influential but still relatively “culty” Bowie/Eno Berlin trilogy.
Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band – Between My Head and the Sky
Peanut Butter Wolf – 45 Live
18 hip-hop classics re-edited by Peanut Butter Wolf.
Pearl Jam – Backspacer
Indie-store exclusive version of the CD is packaged in a fancy bound digipak.
The Persuasions – A Capella Soul: Essential Recordings
Long after the doo-wop sound faded from the charts, The Persuasions kept the torch burning with vibrant and soulful renditions of songs from every imaginable source. This collection focuses on classic repertoire from the 1950s and 1960s, brought to a deeper and more soulful new life by these spellbinding a cappella masters, who “still ain’t got no band.”
Porcupine Tree – Metanoia
Originally released as a limited edition double 10″, Metanoia contains instrumental jams recorded during sessions for the band’s album Signify, plus two bonus tracks.
Jonathan Richman – Vampire Girl: Essential Recordings
With his deceptively simple approach, Jonathan Richman finds profound truths in these delicately detailed observations of life, each delivered in a spirit that gets to the heart of pure rock and roll. Here are many of the best of his recordings for Rounder Records, selected for this release by Jonathan himself.
They Might Be Giants – Here Comes Science CD+DVD
This CD+DVD set creates a new creative way for kids to learn. Here Comes Science follows up TMBG’s successful past two children’s albums Here Come the ABCs and Here Come the 123s. With songs like “Electric Car,” “Photosynthesis” and “Solid Liquid Gas” (among others) kids will learn about science while having fun. The album features 19 songs and 19 entertaining videos.
