Everyone has a secret.  Some may be juicy while others may be plain Jane, but simply put, everyone has something that no one else knows.

If you are reading my blogs you know a few of my secrets.   I blog mainly about my open marriage, my body, and my sex life. This isn’t really a secret to you, but the general population (i.e. most people close to me have no clue I do this).  It’s a big secret to me and I absolutely love having it.

What about everyone else in the world?  Can you guess what your neighbor is hiding?  Maybe there’s an illusive lesbian in your office.  A few might have figured out her secret, but everyone else is oblivious.  The nosy guy in the office next to her is curious why she never talks about her boyfriends or if she even has one.  Those of us privy to her secret just smile and nod.  He has no idea about her secret and that’s the best part of a secret – keeping it hidden.

The office affair is always a big secret that everyone thinks they know, but do they?  Are you one of those people walking through the office slyly looking at the hottie in the next cubicle, knowing that just an hour ago the two of you were sneaking off to the third floor restroom for a quickie?  You love this secret.  You love the fact that everyone else is oblivious to your secret.

Maybe you are the pencil straight business man that’s always neatly pressed and shined each day of work. On the weekends you are at the Castle dancing the night away in your PVC suit and black eyeliner while sporting an Ampallang that even your dancing partner is unaware of.  This is your secret world and you won’t let anyone into it.

Even if you only post your secret about unrequited love on a random secrets website or mail them on a postcard to a man you have never met, you still have that great surreptitious memory that is only for you.  That is what makes you an individual and makes you special – it’s your secret.

The reason I write this blog is because I love to share my secrets, but then they aren’t really secrets anymore.  This is my avenue to tell everyone and yet tell no one at the same time. Sure I hide behind my soccer mom persona, but doesn’t that make the mystery of me a little more exciting?  So next time you are leaving the office and the receptionist waves good-bye to you with just two fingers, maybe she is letting you in on her secret.
