The Temple Terrace Preservation Society’s next meeting to feature local author Dr. John Henry Fleming and his book Fearsome Creatures of Florida

The Temple Terrace Preservation Society’s next meeting on Thursday, November 19, will be featuring local author and Temple Terrace resident, Dr. John Henry Fleming, and his newest book, Fearsome Creatures. Dr. Fleming will do a reading and signing of his latest book that’s mystical, magical and funny, with an environmental theme about preserving what’s left of Florida.
As CL writer Shawn Alff reviewed, “In Fearsome Creatures of Florida, Tampa author John Henry Fleming serves as taxonomist of Florida folklore, producing a wildlife handbook that could have been published by National Enquirer. This book breathes new life into real creatures and popular myths like the Skunk Ape and the Chupacabra.”
After the the reading by Fleming, there will be a Q & A session and book signing. All book sales at the event will be donated to the Temple Terrace Preservation Society. At least 20% of the royalties from the sale of Fearsome Creatures of Florida and 50% of the profits from associated products will be donated to the Nature Conservancy to help protect critical natural lands in Florida.
The meeting will be at 7 pm at the Temple Terrace Community Church, 210 Inverness Avenue. Free refreshments will be provided and Bat Wine will be for sale. The meeting is free and open to all ages.
The Temple Terrace Preservation Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization, founded in 1975 to preserve and protect the architectural and historical heritage of the city of Temple Terrace, FL through advocacy, education and community involvement.
