The 2010 collections of 15 local and regional  designers were featured in this years Fashion Week Tampa Bay 2009. The event, held at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk, was packed full of  fabulous fashion, VIP soirees, after parties, vendor and exhibitor boutiques, and two nights of runway couture. The organizers have a two-fold mission: to bring together emerging and established fashion and accessory designers for the bay area to enjoy, and to raise funds for non-profit organizations. This year’s beneficiary was Best Buddies, an organization dedicated to enhancing lives of those with intellectual disabilities.

Couture and craft collided in the fifth Wearable Art Fashion Show at the Dunedin Fine Art Center Saturday night. Nine design houses created dozens of different wearable art ensembles to the thrill of the packed house. See all the fashion festivities (and a few faux pas?) after the break…

The 2009 TRA’shion Fashion and Art Show was a big hit again this year. Held Saturday night at the ARTpool Co-op Gallerie and Boutique, the fashion was wonderfully trashy, made from recycled and other found objects. The show included over 20 trashionistas working with newspaper, aluminium foil, duct tape, recycled Coke 12-pack packages, and the perennial favorite Skittles dress worn by the host Marina Williams. On Earth Day 2009, Creative Loafing debuted its Green 100 list, choosing 95 people and organizations leading the way toward a greener Tampa Bay, and asking readers to nominate the final five.

On May 5 — 50 nominations and 6,180 votes later — we celebrated the winners and nominees with a party at Creative Loafing’s offices. Close to  200 people came out to celebrate, including Tampa City Councilmembers John Dingfelder, Mary Mulhern and Linda Saul-Sena; Joe Redner and the team from the Roosevelt in Ybor; former Hillsborough County Commissioner Ed Turanchik; Stuart Rogel from Tampa Bay Partnership — Green 100 listers all — plus many others from the list, including the top Final Five votegetter, Temple Terrace’s favorite son Grant Rimbey. CL Tampa Publisher Sharry Smith, CL Editor David Warner and the editors of CL’s new Green Community website, cltampa.com/green, Sharon Joy Kleitsch and Katie Machol, greeted the crowd, which included many of the site’s contributors. EVOS, Bamboozle, Whole Foods, Sally O’Neal’s Gourmet Pizza and 360 Vodka provided the green eats and drinks.
