Early Wednesday morning, Joshua Basso, 29, ran out of cell phone minutes. Looking for sex, he dialed the only number that would work: 911.

Basso called a 911 operator, and made several sexual comments about her body before asking to come over to her house and have sex with her.

After being arrested, Basso said he “did not think he would get into trouble for calling 911.” Basso has admitted to making inappropriate 911 calls in the past, because he previously gave the operator a false name and address. Read the rest of this entry »

The Big O says ‘hell no’ to mile high club: Earlier this week, Oprah Winfrey’s former flight attendant claimed that she was wrongfully fired after being accused of having sex during a flight in June. The attendant, Corrine Gehrls, has sued Harpo, as well as former co-worker Myron Gooch and Winfrey’s goddaughter, Kirby Bumpus, for false and defamatory accusations that led to her dismissal.

Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon and pop music sex symbol Lady Gaga, among countless others, addressed the National Equality March on Washington yesterday.

Thousands of supporters descended on the Washington Mall on Sunday, October 11, 2009 in the largest gay rights rally in nearly a decade.

During Thursday night’s show, David Letterman revealed that he’s had sexual relationships with members of his female staff, and that a 48 Hours employee who knew about the relationships tried to extort $2 million from Letterman to keep his silence.

Letterman told his studio audience that about three weeks ago he got into his car at 6 a.m. and discovered a package that contained a letter from a man who threatened to write a screenplay about “every terrible thing you’ve ever done in your life.” Instead of paying the person, Letterman notified the Manhattan District Attorney, who advised him to give the extortionist a false check that would lead to his arrest.

“This morning, I did something I’ve never done in my life,” Letterman told audience members. “I had to go downtown and testify before a grand jury.”

In his testimony, he acknowledged having sex with members of his staff. “My response to that is: Yes, I have,” Letterman said on camera. “Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would.”
CBS issued a statement saying that the 48 Hours employee was arrested on Thursday on first degree attempted grand larceny.

Letterman and his girlfriend Regina Lasko married in March 2009, and their son, Harry, was born in 2003.

Film director Roman Polanski was arrested entering Switzerland Saturday for a decade’s old arrest warrant. By request of the United States, the 76-year old Academy Award winner was questioned by Swiss police upon entering the country regarding the warrant issued in 1978.

In 1977, Polanski plead guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl, and permanently left the United States in 1978 before he was sentenced. Polanski is considered an international fugitive. Read the rest of this entry »

This afternoon, Mackenzie Phillips revealed on Oprah what most of the world found out earlier this week–that Phillips had a 10 year affair with her father, John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas.

In her new book, High on Arrival, Phillips chronicles her life of drug, sex, rehab, divorce, arrests, and a sexual relationship with her father. The New York Times reported Saturday that Andrew Young–the man who once said he fathered John Edward’s mistress’ child–now claims that Edwards is in fact the father of Rielle Hunter’s child.

Young, the former Edwards aide who has a book deal with St. Martin’s Press, said in his proposal that Edwards not only fathered Hunter’s child, but worked with his campaign finance chair to keep the affair a secret. Read the rest of this entry »

Match.com gone wrong: A 35 year old woman from Detroit was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct for having sex with her biological son. Aimee Louise Sword gave her son up for adoption 10 years ago, and was reunited with him after finding him on the Internet. Free on bond, Sword’s lawyer says his client “maintains her presumption of innocence.”

Is she or isn’t she?: Though two Australian newspapers have reported that Caster Semenya has no ovaries, uterus, and large amounts of testosterone, The International Association of Athletics Federations refused to confirm or deny the South African runner’s gender test results.The international federation asked South African track and field authorities to conduct the a gender verification test after Semenya posted a world-leading time of 1:56.72 at the African junior championships in July. Earlier this week, a provocative commercial for the ad campaign “AIDS is a Mass Murderer” hit the internet. The commercial is set for official release for World AIDS Day on  December 1, 2009.

Dan Comitee, a young, presumably edgy, Hamburg- based advertising agency produced the commercial  on behalf of the small German AIDS awareness group Regenbogen e.V.

A new study in the journal BMC Evolutionary Biology found that female fruit flies prefer to keep intercourse short because they get a reproductive boost from shorter sex.

Male fruit flies prefer sex to last longer, which leads to a struggle between mating flies.

“After about a minute and a half (of mating), the female begins kicking and struggling,” says Kirsten Klappert, of the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology. Read the rest of this entry »

Watch yourself, Grandpa: A new study to be published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found that sex hormone levels affect the risk of broken bones in older men. The study measured the sex hormone levels of 1,436 men aged 65 and older for a period of five years. Researchers found that men with low levels of estradiol*, or high levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG)^, were more likely to suffer ostoporotic fractures. Men with low levels of testosterone and estradiol combined with high levels of SHBG were three times as likely to break a bone than men with average sex hormones. Read the rest of this entry »

Sex offenders sell: After two months on the App Store, ThinAir Wireless’ “Offender Locator” has worked it’s way into the top ten best selling paid iphone applications. The company offers a $.99 and free version of the sex offender application, which lets users view registered sex offenders in their neighborhood. On Sunday, August 2, 2009, the application was number three on the top paid apps list.

+1 for Offender Locator: On Wednesday, a 50 year old South Carolina man was charged with having sex with a horse. Rodell Vereen was caught by the horse’s owner Barbara Kenley at shotgun point, after Kenley observed Vereen having his way with her 21 year old horse, Sugar. Last year, Vereen pleaded guilty to having sex with Sugar. He was sentenced to three years probation and placed on the state sex offenders list. Sex offender slumlord: A registered sex offender, proclaiming himself the “Robin Hood” of Florida sex offenders, has been buying up properties and leasing them exclusively to groups of offenders. Young once ran an entire trailer park for sex offenders and was charged with cramming 24 men into one three bedroom house.

Way too young: A 14-year-old from Fort Worth was charged with “attempted” sexual assault after breaking into two apartments and being beaten off by both of his intended victims.

No sex (park) in China: This week officials in Chongqing, China ordered the destruction of Love Land, a sex themed park. The park planned to have models of genitals and sex techniques, naked human sculptures and an exhibition on the history of sex. Park manager Lu Xiaoqing said the park would serve as a learning tool, saying “Sex is a taboo subject in China, but people really need to have more access to information about it.” Bummer. Hope no one out there bought their plane tickets to China yet.

Two Sex Bites ago, I wrote about the sex ban in Kenya. CNN reports that a Kenyan man, James Kimondo, has sued women activists who called for the week-long sex ban to protest the unstable coalition government.

Kimondo filed a lawsuit against the G-10, an umbrella group of women activists, claiming the sex ban affected his marriage, and led to his stress, mental anguish, backaches and lack of sleep. Read the rest of this entry »

From bodies, to bodies having sex: A new exhibit by Gunther von Hagens, the artist of “Bodies … the Exhibition,” opened this week in Berlin. “The Cycle of Life” uses the same materials of skinned and preserved human remains, but this time the bodies are placed in sexual positions. Von Hagens says his exhibition shows “the biology of reproduction and the nature of sexuality,” while his critics say he showcases “tastelessness.”

Obama says ‘no’ to ‘just say no‘: President Obama’s proposed 2010 budget replaces George W. Bush’s $100 million abstinence program, spending $110 million for comprehensive teen pregnancy prevention. No sex in the Prime Minister’s room: The Women’s Development Organization, a women’s rights group in Kenya, called for a week-long, country-wide sex ban on Wednesday to quell the tension and political unrest between Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President Mwai Kibaki. Odinga’s wife supports the sex ban, and Patricia Nyaundi, executive director of the Federation of Women Lawyers (Fida) told the BBC “”Great decisions are made during pillow talk, so we are asking the two ladies at that intimate moment to ask their husbands: ‘Darling can you do something for Kenya?’”

Last chance: The Florida Senate is set to rule on a law outlawing bestiality, which means, there’s still time. . .

Yellow Lab puppy: cute, or enticing?

On Tuesday, the Florida Senate passed bill SB 448. The bill would make it a third degree felony to have sex with an animal, punishable by up to five years in prison.

Florida is among the 16 states that (still) do not have a law against bestiality.

A church sex workshop in Melbourne, Florida is shaking things up on the east coast. Melbourne’s New Hope Church is presenting a three part series, called “Great Sex for You.” Earlier this month, the New Hope Church mailed 25,000 fliers to Melbourne houses, asking occupants “Is your sex life a bore?” The ad campaign showed two bare feet snuggling in bed. Oh no, not snuggly sockless feet!

Apparently, the community wasn’t ready to talk about sex (baby). Strangely enough, the controversy isn’t sex in church, but sex in church in a public school.

New Hope Church rents out the auditorium and a classroom at Sherwood Elementary for weekly services and seminars. Brevard County School District’s director of risk management, Mark Langdorf, told Florida Today, “We believe the type of advertising used is not appropriate for students to read in any elementary school . . .it should not be used to advertise any event held at an elementary school in Brevard County.” Read the rest of this entry »

Planning a wedding? Take a good look at your guest list, and be sure to uninvite anyone you cheated on your fiancée with. If you don’t, it could get ugly.

The Sunday New York Post reported a Queens woman has filed a civil suit against a guest at her wedding for slander, emotional distress and battery. Sandrina and Harold Purdum’s wedding went sour after wedding guest Jessica Angevine vocalized her feelings on the union during the wedding ceremony.

“Me and Harry were good together. You had to ruin everything by marrying him. You f- – -ed everything up,” says Sandrina Purdum, quoting Angevine on the her ill-fated day. No Miss Domanatrix, please don’t crush me!: On Monday, the Supreme Court decided to rule whether or not depictions of cruelty to animals are protected by the First Amendment. A law back in 1999 made it illegal to sell videos (or any media) showing cruelty to animals. The 1999 law was provoked by crush videos–videos of animals being stepped on–that people buy for sexual pleasure.

Is no place sacred?: Public sex ‘epidemic’ spreads to Taco Bell restrooms.

Because 17 year olds will become 18 year olds: On Wednesday, the FDA overturned a Bush administration ruling, lowering the age to buy Plan B by one year. Read more here.
