Dreaming of seducing 12-year-old niece

Posted by Dream Momma on Aug. 31, 2009, at 11:40 am

I’m 27. I dreamed I was attracted to my niece (12yo) and made sexual advances towards her.  She didn’t look anything like my niece but somehow I knew it was her. In the dream she was tall, thin, with red hair and golden-brown skin.  She was wearing a thin white, filmy dress that covered her from her neck to her feet that I could almost see through.  I wanted her, this kid who in real life is short, pudgy and plain – no way!  I woke up with a hard on. I’m supposed to go to my brother’s on Labor Day and now I don’t want to. I’m afraid of how I’ll react when I see my niece. That’s a real bummer for me. Can you help me? Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of a rain forest and a ladder to success

Posted by Dream Momma on Aug. 27, 2009, at 11:26 am

“Hi dream momma. I’ve had the exact same dream twice. I don’t really do much during the dream, but it is so vivid that i had to post it. So it starts off with me and my friend Alex in Miami. We quickly board a plane to Chicago,  and when we land I notice from the window that the airport and city does not look like Chicago (I’ve been there before). Instead it looks like a remote airstrip in the Pacific Northwest. Soon we meet a middle-aged dude (I forgot his name) and he explains that he has work for us. We ride in the back of his truck through a sinuous two-track dirt road through redwood-type trees for what seems like forever. We finally arrive at a warehouse complex in the middle of a temperate rain forest. It is snowing but all the vegetation is verdant and green. I change into winter clothes and soon I am doing menial tasks like screwing nails into the wall, climbing a ladder, and painting. Then I wake up … very confusing. However, I had almost this exact same dream a week ago, same place, Chicago, airstrip, same tasks, and warehouse … weird! What’s your take on it? Read the rest of this entry »

Four dream interpretations of a fireball. Which one fits?

Posted by Dream Momma on Aug. 26, 2009, at 12:00 am

I was floating in a black sea. The whole earth was water. I thought…uhh, shit. The sky was beautiful, dark, space as far as the spirit can conceive…stars, galaxies, gas clouds all perfectly visible. Then a HUGE fireball (what, a sun?) approaches, nay, careens through space at my head. I dive into the water, wondering how deep I can go, how long i can hold my breath in this wonderfully dark, safe abyss of wet. And I have trouble going down. I float. Dammit! Why am I floating? I need to swim down to safety! Well then I think, Oh, I should breathe … need air … and then notice I can breathe just fine in the water. The fireball hits … and all goes dark. I am still breathing, chillin’ under water. I guess the fireball put itself out in the water. The stars shine again … Read the rest of this entry »

Dream of dancing with grandfather means looking for Mr. Right

Posted by Dream Momma on Aug. 25, 2009, at 12:00 am

I saw your request and I just so happened to have an interesting dream last night. I dreamed I was dancing with my grandfather (who died three years ago and I was very close to). But as I was dancing with him, I couldn’t see him, I could only feel the sensation of dancing with him. So I took a video camera and filmed with one hand as we were dancing. He didn’t say anything while we were dancing. Then I watched the video of him, and I was very happy to be able to see his face. Read the rest of this entry »

Dreams of being the tip of a phonograph needle

Posted by Dream Momma on Aug. 24, 2009, at 11:51 am

Thought I’d share a dream I’ve had for years…ever since I was a teen. Not sure what it means, but I have to say I remember it clearly even though I have not had it for about three years now.  I think of it every so often though.

I realize that I am on the tip of a needle on a record player. I see myself from different angles…I am the tip of the needle, I am going through the eye of it – well, I sense that I am. I don’t see myself going through the eye physically. Then I see the record spinning under me. Next I am on the arm on top of the record and I see from that angle, and then I see myself atop the arm.

Never did find out why it was a reoccurring dream for years, why I dreamt it or why it stopped. It bugs me not to know what it meant. Never did get the name of the record playing. Read the rest of this entry »

Dream of son seeking Orca-like revenge for slaughtered baby

Posted by Dream Momma on Aug. 19, 2009, at 5:00 am

” i see an image of a killer whale hanging upside down as if hung on a hook or by a crane; it is a female, alive, in agony, and whining. Flash to another image of the whale’s embryonic baby that has been removed from the mother’s body; a male voice-over talks about killing the whale babies.  I am reminded of the 1970s film Orca.”

This is a very dark dream. This is a dream about a family in pain. About a mother who harbored very dark energy but remained helpless or rather suspended in space by either her family, her spouse, her culture or her community. Even perhaps her church. A woman whose life was also topsy-turvy, unpredictable. Enter her masculine counterpart, who speaks over her and her situation (the voice-over) and who, like many males of certain species, has murderous thoughts about his offspring.

What’s my dream mean? My boyfriend’s a rabbit and he’s calling me a whore

Posted by Dream Momma on Aug. 18, 2009, at 12:30 pm

Dear Dream Momma,

I hope you can help me. Last night I had a very significant dream. My boyfriend kept turning into a rabbit, then back into a human. When he was a rabbit, he would turn very mad, out of control, eat sharp objects and do other things to endanger his life.

I spent a great deal of time trying to manage him. I became aware that while he was with me (as a human) he was treating me like a princess, but I had found out (from one of my university professors!) that behind my back he was calling me names like a whore, and said I was promiscuous.

In the same dream I went to visit my newly married best friend who had just come back from her honeymoon where she flew over all of these dangerous places, including Afghanistan. Despite this she was blissfully satisfied, and her new house was looking small, but beautifully decorated. Although she had only just gotten married, she had a 20-week-old baby.

In real life I have a boyfriend of one year with whom I am currently in a long-distance relationship. He gets frustrated with me for asking if he cheats all the time. I also have a best friend who got married two weeks ago. She has no baby.

Dear Rabbit’s Girlfriend (RG), Read the rest of this entry »

What’s my dream mean? I’m driving over the Howard Frankland and the water is rising FAST

Posted by Dream Momma on Aug. 12, 2009, at 6:25 pm

Dream Momma,
I keep having a dream of driving over the Howard Frankland or the Courtney Campbell and either the water is rising FAST or the bridge just peters out directly into the water. It’s always clear skies (not a hurricane or anything) and all of a sudden I go from driving on the bridge to having my car floating/sinking in the water. The last time I had the dream, I dreamed I was in a convertible and as the car went deeper in the water (scary), I actually reached out and petted a dolphin (cool!) … I can’t remember how the dream ended, but it was funny because I had fallen asleep on the couch that night while watching the movie Titanic (so I’m guessing that sinking feeling must have been on my brain lol!) But I’ve totally had similar dreams on nights when I HAVEN’T watched Titanic!

Day Dreamer

Dear Day Dreamer,
I think you daydream a lot. On your life’s journey you go in and out of reality on a regular basis. What’s up with that?

Dreaming of a global crisis

Posted by Dream Momma on Jul. 27, 2009, at 10:54 am

“Dream Momma, Last weekend I had a dream (nightmare) that I was trying to outrun a sinkhole with the family in the car. We made it to a shopping mall and ran inside just in time to see the parking lot and everything that lay beyond it swallowed up. It freaked me out and the only thing Julie could say was “What did you eat last night?”

Dear Dreamer, I have to assume you are married with kids and that Julie is your wife. On that assumption I believe this dream is about your belief and your marriage. You and your family are in a car (the marital journey) trying to outrun a sinkhole (big problem-separation-divorce-global crisis). In a nano second you are saved but the world outside is swallowed up.

Hmmm, swallowed up. What comes to mind when you think of the world being swallowed up? Read the rest of this entry »

Dream interpretation: Dreaming of a GTO

Posted by Dream Momma on Jul. 20, 2009, at 5:00 am

Help me out Dream Momma. I am driving a purple car (a late 60s muscle car – Pontiac GTO? -with a black top) and as I go down the highway I pass under a standard green road sign that spans across the road – it has the word “Aristotle’” on it.

Based on the muscle car image, I’m trusting you’re a guy so here goes: This dream is about a spiritual journey you are on. It may be conscious or unconscious but it definitely is there. How can I be so sure you ask? Read the rest of this entry »

Dream Interpretation: Dreaming of masculine energy

Posted by Dream Momma on Jul. 19, 2009, at 6:00 am

Hi Dreammomma!!!

I had this dream last night.  last night: I was in a car with a man and we were coming back from someplace–perhaps dinner together, looking at offices, and such. we were getting close to my place and altho i was feeling close to him, i noticed that i suddenly started talking about business, getting some distance and then i work up. Interested in your comments.

Glad to help. This dream suggests ambivalence about relationships, work, or both. Assuming the dreamer is a woman, it could be as routine as not liking some guy she works with, or possibly thinking about romance with an office mate, but it’s not. I’m going to beat the drum here about not taking dreams literally.

Let’s look at it archetypically, Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of plan de Paris

Posted by Dream Momma on Jul. 17, 2009, at 5:00 am

Dream Momma, In my dream my daughter Helen was living in Paris and my friend John and I went to visit her.  We went to a concert in someone’s home where John and I sat on the balcony to hear the music.  The next day I called the hostess to ask her a question, but by the time she got to the phone I forgot what I wanted to ask.  Instead I asked in which arrondisement she lived — I told her I wanted to look it up in my ‘plan de Paris.’   I felt very stupid asking such a lame question.

This dream is about aging. Sitting somewhere special to hear the music, forgetting the question, the plan de Paris that I suspect, is a plan for retirement.

Unsure what the last sentence is about, as the question doesn’t appear to be “lame.” Read the rest of this entry »

Dream interpretation: Gun shaped keys

Posted by Dream Momma on Jul. 16, 2009, at 6:03 am

“I am dreaming I am knocking on the door of an apartment like mine. To my right is someone with keys shaped like a gun. To my left is someone trying to get out (possibly a cleaning person) of another apartment. When no one answers I turn as do the others when a woman in front of me facing the door says, ‘Well, Hello Tony, why doesn’t anyone like you?” I turn and ask him something and he is hostile to me.”

Dream interpretation: Envy, a normal family green thing

Posted by Dream Momma on Jul. 13, 2009, at 12:33 pm

“Dear Dream Momma, In my dream I was walking with my little sister. She told me not to look behind me or I would get hurt. That made me feel very uncomfortable and trip out a little so I started to walk faster. I pulled hard on her arm but she pulled away and walked slower than before. I was afraid to turn around but I knew my sister was walking right behind me and I felt weird, like she was going to hurt me so I turned around to look at her and instantly she said, “don’t worry I’m not going to hurt you.” The way she said it was probably the scariest/weirdest part of the whole dream. In real life my sister and I are really close. What do you think it means?”

Dear Big Sister, the first thing that comes to mind is sibling rivalry. Something most of us has to deal with at one time or another. I’m guessing what your sister doesn’t want you to see, why she tells you in the dream not to look behind you, is her envy- something she’s aware of (and you are too, unconsciously) and doesn’t demonstrate unless you are not looking. Interpreting dreams of your shadow self

Posted by Dream Momma on Jul. 6, 2009, at 12:20 pm

Dream Momma, I hope you can help me. Here’s my dream. I was sitting with another man outdoors somewhere. It might have been in the mountains. It was cool and dry. Suddenly I noticed a dark figure to the right in the sky in a dark circle with red eyes that was coming towards us. I asked the man with me if he knew him and he leaned forward and said, “Be careful. He is not finished with you yet.” I asked him what he meant and he said, “You’re in no position to ask any questions.” I woke up and my heart was pounding.

Dear Dreamer, I will do my best. Usually, when we’re out in nature, especially in the mountains and there is another man (woman) with us it means that we have met either our inner guide or our shadow self — another, darker, part of ourselves that none of us likes to admit is there.  (Relax dreamer, we all have one. It’s part of the human condition). In this case you’ve met both. The good news is that you have met them and are actually in dialogue. Good for you. That gives you a leg up on most people.

Paddling through life, or not

Posted by Dream Momma on Jul. 6, 2009, at 7:00 am

Hi Dream Momma. I’m female and live in Chicago. Here’s my dream. I was out on Lake Michigan canoeing and a lot of other people were canoeing, too.  Here and there people started getting out of their canoes and into the water and I was wondering how they were going to get back into their boats. It looked very refreshing to be in the water and everyone was having fun.  Eventually it became clear that the water was draining out of the lake as the people who were out of their canoes were suddenly able to stand on the bottom.  Finally, the entire lake drained out and we were all standing around with our canoes.  The bottom of the lake (that we were now standing on) wasn’t flat – it was very hilly.  Eventually it started to rain and we were happy because we thought the rain would fill the lake up again but it wasn’t actually raining it was snowing snowflakes that were perfectly shaped little stars that we were catching in our hands.  We were all amazed.

Congratulations Chicago dreamer, you have had a life’s journey dream. Here are some of the archetypes that indicate that: Read the rest of this entry »

Moving through life’s challenges: using meditation and other techniques to face your fears

Posted by Kelly Rothwell on Jun. 30, 2009, at 8:00 am

The current state of the world has brought many of us into fear over a variety of life’s challenges, fear of terrorist attacks, natural disasters, losing our jobs, etc. Everyone has a story and has had a variety of challenges throughout their lives. These are a part of life. Without life’s polarities we would not continue to learn, grow and develop. How can we move beyond fear and into acceptance of life’s polarities?

There are many techniques to assist us in looking at the positive in life instead of focusing on what appears to be negative and accepting these “negatives” for what they really are. Meditation has been around for thousands of years as a spiritual practice to assist in clearing the mind and connecting with the divine. Meditation brings peace and harmony to your whole being while offering additional benefits such as relaxation, reduction of stress and anxiety, increase of clarity and concentration, ability to release though patterns and improve physical, mental, and emotional health.

Dream interpretation: There’s danger everywhere

Posted by Dream Momma on Jun. 29, 2009, at 12:01 pm

“Hi Dream Momma, This is my dream: It was night and I was crossing the street away from where I live to the other side. As I was crossing a man started yelling that I was about to be hit by a car. I looked and could see cars in the distance but didn’t feel they were close to me. But this man kept yelling that I was just about to be hit so I ran across the street. I was walking to a building across from where I live ( he seemed to be near where I live though I never saw him) and he started yelling that someone was chasing me so I started walking faster. He kept yelling “he’s getting closer.” So I was frantically trying to get my keys into the door I was going into. I finally did and the door turned into a swinging door that didn’t need a key. I decided to try and get to my building and avoid this man by going around the back. I was walking down the street and kept seeing people I knew but their backs were to me. Then I startled a cat that ran out from under a bush. Then I woke up.”

The key to this dream is in the first sentence.  As the clever image portrays, danger is everywhere. That belief is what appears in your unconscious (probably from an overprotective father) when you “cross the street” and “go away from where” you live.  According to the dream there is no safe place other than home; it’s not even safe to cross the street. In this case home is also metaphoric, i.e. the house in your head, i.e. believing what your parents did. I also think that the man chasing you is a metaphor for fear. Unconscious fear haunts you making it impossible to be truly free to make your own decisions and take your own risks. Read on. Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of meeting a prophet, or Satan

Posted by Dream Momma on Jun. 27, 2009, at 6:00 am

“Dream Momma, I had this dream more than once. In the dream I am high on a mountaintop sitting above the clouds with a man who had long white hair, long yellow fingernails, black eyes and long jagged teeth. I could smell his breath and sense his immense knowledge. The man looked down at the earth and expressed his hatred towards the human race and told me I was different, not better then anyone but would always be separate from everyone else.”

This is what we call a big dream. It is dense with a primal archetype that looks like a prophet but sounds like pure evil. I say this because the prophet as an archetype always appears bedraggled and with long white hair, dirty nails, bad teeth. Hey, he’s a desert prophet, they’re not into hygiene, no barbers nor dentists in the desert either. But … this guy is different.  He’s different because of his hatred of the human race. There is only one major archetype that hates the human race and that’s Satan.

This archetype is also seductive. Seductive like, “take the apple, Eve,” or, “Go ahead, coke’s not addictive and you’ll feel better.”  Or, “Come on, your wife won’t know and this bitch is really hot for you.” Real prophets are too busy prophesying for the good of man. They don’t want to seduce you, they want to save you.

How are you seduced? Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of Megan Fox

Posted by Dream Momma on Jun. 24, 2009, at 2:14 pm

Dream Momma,

My boyfriend has a reocurring dream of being a successful lawyer, married to Megan Fox, living in a nice home with children. He wakes up from this dream and his reality seems like a nightmare. (he is 35 unemployed and is back living with his parents).  I try to be supportive but I’m hurt when he tells me he’s dreaming of Megan Fox.

Dear Dreamer, one time removed.  I guess hurt could be the word that works but I’ll tell you girlfriend, your problems are far greater than him dreaming of Megan Fox. You don’t say how old you are and since he’s 35 I’m guessing you’re no teenage.  Why are you thinking like one?

Creativity and cannibalism in dreams

Posted by Dream Momma on Jun. 20, 2009, at 6:00 am

Metaphoric Cannibalism

Metaphoric Cannibalism

A poet writes, “Last night I had a dream that I ate my own index finger. The dream was pretty vivid and unpleasant. I saw how I scraped flesh from it. I ate it like it was a candy. Then I went to the resort, where I was supposed to have fun, but I got in the retirement facility. It was almost empty with young people as retirees and they sat around the table in the dark. I asked why they don’t have light – someone said that they turned off lights to save money.  Can you give me an idea about it?”

Dream Momma: Yes, I can.  This dream is about your creative shadow and light. The doubting of your talent.  The very idea of cannibalizing yourself, especially with such a vital body part (the index finger) is about creative self-loathing that is triggered by external sources. Archetypically, the index finger (vital for a writer) is the tutelary god Jupiter, who used that finger to outsmart Saturn.  It is the finger that gives a writer direction,  guidance, and character.

In your dream teeth represent anger.  Anger over your creative direction.  Do you feel you need more guidance?  If so, it won’t be from this dark, lifeless, cannibalizing, group.  I think you go to them to get sustenance (light) and instead you get darkness (self-destruction)… Read the rest of this entry »

Interpreting dreams about lost or broken teeth

Posted by Dream Momma on Jun. 2, 2009, at 5:40 am

Dream Teeth

Dream Teeth

Dream Momma,  For like the past weeks I constantly dream about my teeth. chipping them or even worse chewing on them until they all crush and i spit out the pieces. The latter one was my first dream and actually a recurring dream from years ago..

i usually never remember dreams. plus, my teeth are the most precious thing for me on my body….. :-s
I was just wondering….and decided to give it a shot by emailing you and asking :o )

I’ll gladly help you and start with the archetypal meaning of teeth.  Remembering that the dream belongs to the dreamer, usually, but not always, teeth symbolize power, aggression potency.  How does knowing that help you?

Well, if you’re a guy the dream could mean you’re feeling a little woozy these days. Perhaps you haven’t picked up the gauntlet someone threw down.  Perhaps you’re afraid of losing your job or you’re broke and/or in debt.  That’ll take the bite out of life won’t it?

If you’re a woman … Read the rest of this entry »

Dreams: The meaning of mice

Posted by Dream Momma on May. 27, 2009, at 5:30 am

“Hi Dream Momma,  I dreamed I was visiting my aunt, uncle and cousins as a child.  In their kitchen there was a hole at the baseboard and I could see little mice through it. I was scared until I realized they were afraid of me and not coming out.”

Hmmm, mice. Hmmm, family. This dream is a little sketchy but here goes. First, I’m assuming the dreamer is an adult but in the dream he/she is a child again.  Often. something going on in real time echoes an unconscious  memory that pops up as a dream.  Symbolically, mice mean disease, proliferation, and quietness.  So, my first question is; does this family have any hidden (baseboard) illnesses that are genetic (family) in nature?

Next we have fear.  Why are the mice afraid of the dreamer?  What power does the dreamer possess?Does the dreamer have “cat energy?” Remember, we’re not talking about real mice, but symbolic mice that may represent a genetic family illness. To get even trickier the illness can be symbolic too, i.e. not physical.  If it is physical think of illnesses that are quiet in nature, i.e. high blood pressure.

That’s the best I can do with the info involved.  Love to hear back from dreamer with more details and feedback on my feedback.

From Twilight to True Blood: What is it about Vampires that makes ladies’ hearts pound?

Posted by Rabid Nick Refer on May. 26, 2009, at 11:34 am

What is it about immortal blood sucking broodaholics that makes women swoon?  Is it the danger?  Is it the biting?  Because trust me girls, I can nibble your neck and I’ve been known to walk fast with a pair of scissors in my hand.  Or perhaps it’s something unattainable to us, the meek mortal man.

Vampire stories such as Twilight and True Blood are currently the hottest things on the market from books, to film/TV and even sex toys.  What gives?  The thought of having my blood removed from the warmth of my veins does not get me wild in the pants.  But the ladies, the ladies do love their undead bad boys.  They want to be taken to the edge and peer over the side.  It drives their juices and makes their heart feel a new sense of life.  The thought that you could be laying with your lover and in the throes of passion and he could take your life must be a mighty intoxicant.  But give me a shot of tequila over a chalice of blood any day.

Edward Cullen does have quite a few more desirable qualities than say Count Dracula.  For one he doesn’t consistently look like he’s heading to the opera.  He’s a moody, anti-social, and more Abercrombie than Hot Topic.  And you’d being lying if you couldn’t admit those eyes are DREAMY. Sometimes a dream is just a dream

Posted by Dream Momma on May. 14, 2009, at 2:05 pm

A reader sent me a “garden variety” dream.  A dream that basically rehashed his day’s events.  He dreamed he was flying a plane and wanted to land it to go home and have a beer.  Luckily, before I got all analytical, I asked him what he did for a living.  He was a pilot.

So, there are many types of dreams.

The BIG dream is a dream you keep remembering, chewing over, and can’t get a handle on.

The repetitive dream is the dream that keeps coming back over and over again.  It can drive some people nuts, to the point they don’t want to go to bed.

The nightmare is well, a nightmare.  We’ve all had one or more.

Next time, I’ll write about dream themes.

Will someone please send me a dream?

The Dream Momma’s dream

Posted by Dream Momma on May. 4, 2009, at 6:09 am

I recently adopted a tiny rescued dog named Nena. She is a Shih Tzu toy. I renamed her Miss Nena because of her elegant ways (except when it comes to food. Then she turns into a 4.5 lb. gang-banger on speed.

Not being a dog person (so sorry all you dog addicts) I took her on a trial basis. I did well resisting but, like all adorable and dependent little things who prey upon our best natures,  her gooey, needy, pit trapped me. After all, she is adorable, little, and needs me. Right?

Once I accepted my fate I researched Shih Tzus and learned they were royal little doggies with an impressive history of being companion dogs in the Imperial Palace. Cultural myth depicted Buddha descending from heaven on the back of a Shih Tzu. Hmm, I better be a good doggie owner.

So here is my dream: Read the rest of this entry »

“Realists” and “optimists” in the permaculture world

Posted by Wayne Davis on May. 1, 2009, at 6:00 am

Concerns for the disastrous consequences of Peak-Oil and Climate Change are the most obvious reasons for “Going Green”. A great deal has been written about both subjects and it is not my desire to discuss the merits or lack thereof of either topic. You have probably “framed” your own position by now. I do posit the belief (based on the science I have seen) that the global production of sweet crude has peaked and that our species is responsible for major disruptions in the natural rhythms of the earth upon which we depend for survival.

In my last post I referenced Rob Hopkins (and I do so again). It would be well worth your time to listen to his interview if you have not. As an instructor and major advocate of permaculture he has great insight on how we need to approach the future collapse of America. The “Transition Initiative” is a methodology he and others have devised to help the communities of villages and hamlets in the U.K. understand the risks of complacency and move toward post-carbon solutions. They say that it is not merely going back to the past in terms of lifestyle but it has all the appearances. Read the rest of this entry »

Dream Momma: A feral cat dream

Posted by Dream Momma on Apr. 29, 2009, at 10:00 am

I’m in an old house. An old woman, that I somehow know, tells me a cat has been attacked by a wild animal and will die. I rush to see and the cat has no hind legs and only half a face but is eating aggressively and balancing well on two front paws. It is a big black feral cat. I yell to the old woman to call the vet and think the cat will be put to sleep then think no, it is eating too well. I try to figure out how to get the cat to the vet without hurting it anymore.

Congratulations Dreamer, you’ve met the Crone. The Crone is a powerful archetype that is wise and knowing and can dispense all kinds of good stuff if you’re willing to listen. Now, the cat.  I’m going to talk about two types of cats. One is the black cat, not the black cats of witches and goblins, but the black cat of good luck.  If there is one in the house it signals the safe return of a seafaring husband.  The other black cat is called the Blackberry  Cat; a cat that was born on or about Christmas.

So we can look at your dream two ways. Read the rest of this entry »

Dream Momma: My brother is an addict

Posted by Dream Momma on Apr. 27, 2009, at 9:57 am

Dream Momma, I dreamed I won the lottery and right afterwards met the perfect girl who was really into me. In the next part of the dream I am driving my asshole of a brother to rehab. (My last and best relationship ended because of him). I look into the rear view mirror of my new Corvette and see my parents waving good-bye from the front porch of a house I’ve never seen before. My Mom is crying and I seen her twisting a hanky in her hands. My Dads hands are clasped together like in prayer.  I’m totally confident and smile and wave out the car window, then suddenly I wake up.”

Wow, talk about a compensation dream!  I can just picture you, tossing and turning like most of us in this economic crisis, then finally falling into a fitful sleep.  Your days, when you’re not working your tail off,  are probably spent trying to keep the family together and holding Mom’s hand while cursing, pleading, cajoling and blaming your brother for everything… Read the rest of this entry »

Dream of an AA meeting

Posted by Dream Momma on Mar. 23, 2009, at 9:54 am

Dear Dream Momma, I dreamed I was at a Girlfriend’s meeting in an auditorium and my seat # was AA. I checked the row but all the seats were taken. They started to serve lunch from the stage and would not give me one unless I was in my seat. The 2 servers did not believe me, but handed me a lunchbox anyway and pointed toward the exit.

Dreamer, it’s clear you’re invested in alcoholics and/or addicts. Here are the key indicators of why I believe that: Girlfriend is capitalized (Emphasis on alcoholic person), seat # was AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), all the seats were taken (no room for you/you don’t belong).

The next part of the dream is about how you have been nurtured somehow by your investment in the world of addiction, (serving lunch).

Finally, and here’s the good news:

Bloody wall dream and response

Posted by Dream Momma on Mar. 20, 2009, at 12:11 pm

Hi Dream Momma, I dream I’m trying to climb over a wall; it’s a wall like an Italian villa would have around it. There are bright pink flowers creeping up one side and I can smell the sea.  It’s hard going but eventually I reach the top only to find there is broken glass embedded in the cement and I will surely cut myself if I continue.  The smell of the sea is stronger and there is music, seductive music, playing softly from behind the wall.  It’s crazy but I continue to climb and put my leg over the wall only to see blood pouring out of a cut in my inner thigh.  I don’t feel anything so I keep climbing.  Now I am straddling the wall, blood is pouring out of me but I feel nothing.  I see the man I love in a garden, sitting in a elaborate chair, holding a glass or dark red wine. When he salutes me with the glass of wine I suddenly am in excruiating pain and start to fall off the wall which is now covered in blood. Before I hit the ground I wake up.

Can you help me?

Wow girl, you really know how to pick them!  Let’s start with the climb over the wall; do you always work that hard to maintain a relationship?  You must be exhausted!  Imagining your emotional life “blood” pouring out of you was an intense experience for me. I can’t begin to imagine what it was like for you.  I’m concerned.

So let’s see what we have so far.  A woman working really hard, emotionally bleeding for a man while he sits behind a wall, sipping wine, and saluting her efforts. I couldn’t help thinking about S and M relationships.   Have you considered that?  If that’s so, is it working for you? The dream says “no”…

Dream interupptus response part II

Posted by Dream Momma on Mar. 14, 2009, at 1:11 pm

In my handy-dandy Jungian book there are two full pages on the meaning of the number three.  To say it is a magical number is the grossest of understatements.  Where to begin?  Well, it’s nearing Easter so how about Father, Son and Holy Ghost?

Or, if that’s too heavy for you, try three blind mice, three little pigs, three strikes and you’re out, three men in a tub, three coins in a fountain, three on a match, etc.

Three is magical because everything from the beginning of time was organized in threes. Think a minute. Morning, noon and night; sea, earth, and sky; animal, mineral, vegetable; past, present and future; beginning, middle and end.

In Hades there are three-headed dogs, Neptune has a trident, there are three Graces in mythology, and the three virtues of faith, hope and charity.

Dream Interruptus

Posted by Dream Momma on Mar. 6, 2009, at 3:48 pm

Dream Interruptus

From a reader:

“I rarely dream, or at least I rarely remember dreaming. The exception is when something startles me out of a deep sleep.  I had such an occurrence last week after your last post, so I made a point of trying to remember it.  Dreams fade very quickly for me once I’m up, so I don’t recall anything about the beginning of this dream. But I remember this much:

It’s a warm, temperate, sunny day outside, and I’m inside a new, modern building with many windows that let in the light and a skylight in the staircase.  The indoor staircase is at the near end of this building, and I’m walking up the stairs.  I pause at the landing of the second floor and, without opening the door to that floor to see what’s there, I quickly decide that I won’t be able to get across to the other side of the building on that floor, so I keep going up.  Mind you, I’ve never been on that floor before, but in my own mind, I’m certain.  I get up to the third (top) floor, and I can see all the way down the long white hall clear to the other end of the building (there are no doors at the top of the stairs:  the stairs are open to the third floor hall).  I smile and see that I was right because the building is literally a squared-off, upside-down U — like two separate buildings separated at ground level by an outdoor garden and walkway but connected at the top by the third floor — and I walk down the hallway knowing that I will reach the other side.  The sunlight is pouring in through the windows and the skylights.  Then a noise in the parking lot below my bedroom window wakes me at about 3:30 am, and the dream suddenly ends. I have no idea what happened before I found myself in the building, nor do I know how it would have ended.  I have only that much.  but I did fall asleep quickly after that, having first made myself remember that dream fragment.”

There is a lot to this dream. Note how many times the number “3″ appears. I will respond in three segments, starting tomorrow.
