Apps help the disabled communicate. So why won’t Medicaid pay for them?

Posted by Sarah Gerard on Nov. 17, 2009, at 12:06 pm

appblog

Technology gets more amazing every day. Satellites guide us from our driveways all the way to a grocery store in Ohio. A webcam enables a soldier in Afghanistan to talk face-to-face with his wife in Nebraska. And a new wave of iPhone apps allows individuals with disabilities to communicate with others — some, for the very first time.

At 235 megabytes, Proloquo2Go turns a standard iPhone into a fully functional augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. Co-designed by Penn State doctoral student Samuel Sennott and carried by iPhone app developer AssistiveWare, Proloquo2Go “provides a full-featured communication solution for people who have difficulty speaking,” such as individuals with autism, Lou-Gehrig’s Disease, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy. Like any other AAC device, it combines symbols, words, sounds and technology (source) to guide its user through an intuitive, hierarchical system of sentence-building software. Added to that, it hosts a minimum vocabulary of 7,000 words and life-like voices — and, at approximately $150 (not including the iPhone), costs a fraction of the $8,000- $10,000 families pay for cumbersome text-to-speech machines. Group fitness: a lot like a Friday night

Posted by Caitlin Reagan on Nov. 11, 2009, at 11:30 am

yoga-classIt was 7 a.m. on a Saturday when my alarm sounded. The pounding headache, the unsteady vision, and the smeared mascara under my eyes confirms that I, Caitlin Reagan, had lived my Friday night to its fullest potential.  After one cup of coffee, two aspirin, one bowl of cereal, four glasses of water and a quick drive across Gandy Bridge, I found myself standing in the group fitness room of the YMCA beginning a 90-minute cardio-strength conditioning class.

“Up, down, up, down, alright everyone! Go! Go! Push it!” the instructor yelled to everyone.  Her motivation was unusual — the demeanor of a pyramid-schemer.  She was sly, steadfast, and domineering all while maintaining her smile and composure.

With my flushed cheeks and Sir-Mix-A-Lot thumping through the speakers, I fist-pumped one dumbbell back and forth in a squat all while trying to ignore the water fountain in the back of the room.

Humorously, I thought how oddly similar a group fitness class reminded me of the night before — a Friday evening full of friends, booze, and bars. Read the rest of this entry »

Dream of Phelps and Obama

Posted by Dream Momma on Nov. 10, 2009, at 2:45 pm

GQMEN-2“Dream Momma, One morning I had a dream about Phelps in the pool with Obama and they were eating smoked turkey.” (sic)

Dream Momma understands why they were together in a pool “swimming” in the limelight. They have a lot on common.

For example, in no particular order:

They are both winners.

They broke records.

They are both known to be very focused.

They are top competitors.

Both wrote memoirs.

They were two of GQ’s Men of the Year and graced the GQ magazine cover together (along with Jon Hamm and DiCaprio).

Both came from broken homes and were raised by single moms.

They were selected by Barbara Walters as two of the top ten most fascinating individuals in 2008.

It was rumored that Phelps would be Obama’s running mate.

Almost hosted SNL together (Obama had to cancel because of Hurricane Ike (guest appearance).

They are both described as “incredibly invested” in the people they care about.

Dream Momma suspects that once one gets the full glare of the media, one must eat a lot of smoked turkey. Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of marriage as death

Posted by Dream Momma on Nov. 6, 2009, at 2:45 pm

Brides15“Hi!  I live in Tampa. A while ago, I dreamt that I was getting married. Everything seemed to be normal at the wedding, until I looked at a picture that someone had taken. My gown was black, as were my bridesmaids. The whole male wedding party was also wearing nothing but black! I’m only 14 years old, don’t have a boyfriend, and definitely DON’T want to be married. Can you tell me what this means?” (sic)

It’s interesting that at an age when young girls fantasize about boys, weddings, marriage, etc., you are sooo adamant that you DON’T want to get married.  What’s up with that?

I’ll tell you. Read the rest of this entry »

Remind me again — why am I running this charity 5K?

Posted by Caitlin Reagan on Nov. 5, 2009, at 4:44 pm

halloween raceOn Halloween, I was hopelessly spending most of the day huddled in my apartment researching the United States’ media coverage on Iran. I had purposely not made plans to celebrate the evening dressed as media sensation Balloon Boy, a firefighter with red-hot lipstick and heels, or even a cat. Instead, six weeks prior, I’d committed myself to the Hob Gobl’n 5K Race, hosted by the Dunedin House of Beer.

For about 30 bucks, I agreed to run 3.1 miles in exchange for three beers of my choice, a t-shirt, and a wonderful spaghetti and meatball dinner. Oh, and a portion of my $30 went to the Dunedin Doggie Rescue — but that wasn’t the best part. The best part was that runners were not required to wear a costume.

I suckered my classmate Manny into running in the event, too. While the purpose of my participation was to avoid the annual Halloween costume stress, Manny signed up because — well, I don’t know exactly why he participated, especially since he treated the entire event as though it were a brisk walk down a scenic trail. Dreaming of a split psyche

Posted by Dream Momma on Nov. 5, 2009, at 2:45 pm

split-psyche“Dream Momma, I had dream while I was away from my family studying in Norway, I was at my brother’s house up where it was behind the hospital. My brother and I were watching TV, and these people came to the door. Just as there are people who stop you when you are in your car and start washing your windows and then demand money, these people, like young kids, various ages, came to the door and started doing lawn care and landscaping. I knew they were going to charge us for it afterwards, and I didn’t want to be taken advantage of. They were immigrants, so I started yelling gibberish at them so they would stop. They got mad because they knew I was making fun of their English skills, but they got back into their big van/suburban, and drove off. As I sat back on the sofa, I saw a flash from the car, and I knew they had shot a gun, and I felt the hot metal entering my skull. As I collapsed, I told my brother, tell mom and dad I love them. So mellow dramatic. then I woke up.” (sic)

This dream is about a split psyche based on the guilt you feel for leaving your family. Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of a first love breakup

Posted by Dream Momma on Nov. 4, 2009, at 2:45 pm

healingHands“Hi Dream Momma, I like your blog and was hoping you can help me as I think about this dream a lot. In the dream, I went with my family to visit my first love (of nearly a decade ago). I went in the house, and it was empty. Saw some things of his, then he appeared. We talked a little, all politely, openly, heart-achily. He wasn’t happy in his life, then his sister came in the room. She was really sweet, and was also stuck in a less than desirable situation. My current love joined us in the room and convo, and we ended up sitting and hugging all together, knowing that the shit was over, and we would help each other escape into happiness back in Atlanta. It was amazingly emotional.” (sic)

Dreaming of Punky Brewster

Posted by Dream Momma on Nov. 3, 2009, at 2:45 pm

punkybrewster“Dream Momma, A reoccurring dream I had as a child was that I was riding in a van (sitting on the floor) with Punky Brewster and the black guy on the
show. It was a hula-hoop van, don’t ask. We stopped at this bank, and the driver tried to catch me with a hula-hoop as I got out, he was trying to keep me from going and stopping a crime. Punky and dude and I went and hid behind a bush, and these three bank robbers were walking from the bank all pink panther like. Their faces were like those you see on neighborhood crime watch signs. Then I woke up.” (sic)

Hmmm. Dream Momma will help you. Vans, unlike let’s say, a sports car, are symbols of two things. One is work and the other is a group of people. Sitting on the floor of a van indicates your status in the family or at work. Perhaps you were the youngest or in now-time at work, the newest hire.

Dreaming of lovers in the laundry room

Posted by Dream Momma on Nov. 2, 2009, at 2:45 pm

washing-machine-john“Dream Momma, I am a 45-year-old, married, black female professional living in Tampa. I have been having an online “affair,” if you will call it that, for 3 years with a white man. My husband, who is also a professional, travels a lot with his job. I have met my online lover, and although we have shared embraces, we have not shared a bed.

This dream begins with me on my bed and my husband in the sitting room that is off our bedroom. There is a curtain there, so I cannot actually see him but I hear him as he moves about. He is watching TV. My lover enters my bedroom wearing just a long tee shirt and crawls onto the bed with me. I am not surprised to see him; it is as if he does this often. He snuggles up behind me and is very amorous. I am watching the crack in the curtain. I suggest that we go to another room.

We go the bathroom that is just beyond my laundry room. There is a cot set up for him. He apparently stays here often. But the washer has been moved into the bathroom and I am concerned that my husband will come into this room to tend to the washer. So I am emptying the washer and taking clothes from the toilet(?) that appear to be clean. I am trying frantically to stay ahead of my husband in thought.

I hear him come into the laundry room and he is doing something with the dryer. My lover is starting to say something and I am signaling him not to talk but he continues to whisper. My husband is close enough that I could touch him if there were no wall and I am almost crazed that I can’t seem to make my lover understand that he should not talk AT ALL.

He finally makes me understand that he has left his belt out in the house somewhere. He thinks maybe my bedroom, and he is not sure where his pants are. My head is about spin off as I try to imagine where he might have left his things and if I can get to them before my husband sees them – as they are not the same body types and do not share a sense of style. Help me understand this dream please.” (sic)

Dream Momma will try. The first thing that is of significance is the fact that whenever your husband appears in the dream there is something concrete between you (a curtain, a wall). That is important. It means there IS something between you in real, waking, life that is interfering with marital intimacy (and Dream Momma doesn’t mean just sex). Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of ghost heads

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 31, 2009, at 2:45 pm

I was near a shelf full of glowing heads, (just casts) and then we’d meet a ghost, he would show is to the grave, we’d pull out the body, make a plaster cast of the head, and return the body to the ground. The plaster cast would go on the shelf with the others, and begin to glow. JRA” (sic)

Marijuana and the male orgasm

Man-Smoking-Joint-001“Oh yeah, oh yeah… omigod, I’m so close. I wish I had some beer, but I wanna come. Ooo, I want a burrito. Why can’t I come?!”

Sound familiar? An Australian study has found that men who smoke marijuana on a regular basis are four times more likely to have difficulty reaching orgasm than men who don’t smoke. The same study also discovered that potheads experience premature ejaculation at three times the rate of non-smokers. What gives? Read the rest of this entry »

Fall into fitness and enjoy Mother Nature while you’re at it

Posted by Kelly Rothwell on Oct. 29, 2009, at 3:57 pm

Fall is the time of the year when we begin to prepare for Winter and the many holidays to come over the next several months. Take time for yourself this fall and step up your fitness program in preparation for the upcoming holiday beachrunnerseason.  Whether you are beginning your fitness program or stepping up your program, additional calorie burn and muscle toning will keep you in check this holiday season.  Exercise assists us in keeping our weight and body fat in balance as well as our stress levels.

With the fall weather finally here, it is a great time to get outside. Enjoy the weather by running or walking along the beach or the water.  Being by the water and on the sand is beneficial in many ways. The sand on the beach adds more difficulty which adds to your calorie burn. The change of scenery sure beats the view from the treadmill and makes your run much more enjoyable. Exercise is such a great release mentally, so achieving this experience in the presence of the elements assists you in the release leaving you feeling balanced and grounded.

Marriage, year one: what I’ve learned about love

Posted by Brook Rushing on Oct. 29, 2009, at 12:40 pm

rings1Our marriage began with a hurricane (the storm, not the drink).  The morning after our wedding we were forced to evacuate Louisiana. We drove for 14 hours and after no luck finding a hotel, we ended up spending the first night of our honeymoon sleeping in our Jeep in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. While not obviously romantic, it was adventurous and oddly special.

We recently celebrated our first year anniversary — or as my husband would say, “We survived our first year of marriage.” As year one passed us by, I couldn’t help but reflect on what I have learned…about marriage, about love and about myself. Read the rest of this entry »

My First Marathon: Chicago Marathon 2009

Posted by Jen Morgan on Oct. 29, 2009, at 11:31 am

520+ – Miles Ran
16+ – Weeks of Training
10+ – lbs lost
8 – Toenails Lost
2 – Pairs of Shoes
1 - Bra Size
1 – Officially diagnosed reoccurring injury (ITB)

All this to run 26.2.

Leaving my hotel race morning, I stepped out onto an all but deserted street and began my lone pilgrimage to Grant Park, my heart all aflutter. Turning onto Michigan Ave I beheld the most amazing view of the city all aglow in the early morning, the street lined with runners, looks of determination, anticipation and a healthy dose of fear across their faces.

Start Corral - Upon arriving, I quickly found the open start corral and fell into the mid-nine-minute mile section. It was a balmy 33 degrees and this Florida girl was not prepared for the temps. I shivered and tried in vain to stay warm by chatting up the other runners. As the gun went off the crowd surged forward and “throw away” clothes exploded into the air and rained down around us. It was GO time.

Start – Mile 5 – As I crossed the start line I couldn’t help but get caught up in the moment; I screamed, I jumped up and down and I waved my hands up in the air like I just didn’t care. 26.2 lay before me and I was awestruck by the sights and the sounds of the city before me, the spectators all around. It was sensory overload and I relished in every moment of it! As we entered a tunnel, the sound of runners screaming and feet pounding the pavement was deafening. You could power the world over for days with the energy bouncing off those walls. By chance alone I managed to see my cousin Michelle and Beth around the two mile mark and it fired me up 10 times more than I already was; I was really doing this, I was running the Chicago Marathon. In that moment I realized Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of your sexual shadow

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 28, 2009, at 2:45 pm

demon_shadow0412c“Well, I’ll start of with the basics you’ll need to know to understand how this is so confusing to me. All my life i’ve constantly been told by girls “i only like you as a friend” There this girl in real life who i really like, but we’re just friends, best friends to be exact, and i’m totally fine with that. In fact, i am great with it because relationships often die out but friendships don’t. She is in my dreams almost every night, but last night, “she was in my dream but only in the background a couple of times and we spoke a little bit. The strangest part is now, there was this girl in my dream (who i don’t know in real life, she was obviously made up in my dreamland) who is completely not my type in looks and personality. But for some reason i started to like her, a lot, and just as i was getting the courage up to ask her on a date, she makes it very clear that we’re just friends. Not only that, but one of my childhood friends who i am still currently friends with also liked her but she also only liked him as a friend too, but i was willing to go behind his back to go on a date with the girl who we both liked (and i wouldn’t do that in real life, i’m not that kind of guy)” (sic)

A message from a youth-baseball mother: Parents and coaches, stop abusing your kids

Posted by Catherine Robinson on Oct. 28, 2009, at 12:39 pm

news_robinson_baseball1_33

“Now you know how it feels,” says the tagline on this video. Watch after the break.

After two weeks of practice and a few rain delays, game day is finally here.
The sun is playing peek-a-boo behind just a few clouds in an otherwise clear and bright blue sky. An autumn breeze doesn’t lower the temperature too much, still in the high 80s, but I sit in the shade and feel comfortable. Never a big sports fan, I’m now transformed by my children’s enthusiasm.
I’m ready to see my youngest son get out there and enjoy himself.
Baseball is the great American pastime, after all, requiring skill and the kind of good hand-eye coordination I never got from drama and dance classes.
Yes, listening to the crack of the bat and kids cheering on their teammates is just about as good a gig as you can find on a Saturday afternoon.
Which is why I’m suddenly surprised.
Head Coach is screaming at his players, 9- and 10-year-old boys.
“Lazy. You’re being lazy!”
“Are you a spectator or a ballplayer?”
“Dive for the ball!”
“Can any of you catch?” Read the rest of this entry »

CL’s new offices: A walk in the Yborhood

Posted by David Warner on Oct. 27, 2009, at 6:07 pm

yborsquare

Home of CL's new offices in Ybor Square, a former cigar factory. Photo by Joran Oppelt.

Oct. 27: Our second day in CL’s new offices in Ybor Square — but first day I got to do what I’d been dreaming of: actually get out of the office and just WALK AROUND.

That may not sound like much, but after five (!) years cooped up in a former fruit warehouse where you had to get in your car to do anything outside the office, this was, literally, a dream.

And I’ll try to keep the Philly references to a minimum, but having come here from a town where I could walk out my office door into a plethora of pedestrian-friendly possibilities for lunch, for shopping, for people-watching — hell, for merely walking — and after working there in a building with brick and history and character — it is a revelation and a relief to find myself in similar quarters, with history and walkability and multiple alternatives for lunch, etcetera, and to find it in, of all places, Tampa. Dreaming of being a closet Republican

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 26, 2009, at 2:45 pm

sarah_palin_5“’m a guy who lives in Tampa. I don’t remember my dreams often, but I had one a few weeks ago that was rather disturbing It was 2012 and I found myself voting for Richard Nixon, who had somehow gotten his name on the ballot again, instead of voting for Obama like I wanted to. Very strange. I hope it doesn’t mean I’m a closet Republican or something.

Let’s see, when I think of Richard Nixon, I suppose I think of dishonesty, an inflamed ego, and a bit of paranoia. I watched “Frost/Nixon” a few weeks ago so he may have been fresh in my mind from that The name Richard doesn’t really mean anything to me.

A friend of mine said he was going to nominate me as president in 2012  I was going to run as the Bull Moose Party, but I decided against it. I wouldn’t want to take away any votes from Obama.” (sic)

Dream Momma just loves this dream. It is so easy to connect the dots I’m surprised you haven’t done so. I suspect it’s because you are a closet something but not a Republican. You, my prime-of-life dreamer, are a closet hot-for-Sarah-Palin. Read the rest of this entry »

Single mom dreams of help raising her son

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 23, 2009, at 2:45 pm

mother-and-son-md“Dream Momma, I dream I was climbing a mountain. I was pushing my son up it and just when I reached the top a car blocked me the headlights blinded me and a guy steps out reaches his arm out to help me and falls off the mountain. Now I’m saying I’m stuck, I can’t get around the car and another man appears from no where pulls my son up and I climb the rest of the way myself.” (sic)

It’s tough being a single parent, especially if you have a son who needs a role model. That’s what this dream is about. It’s about the struggle, the climb up the proverbial mountain, that all single moms face. You’re blinded in the dream because you were blinded by the man who fathered your son. The man who falls off the mountain (fails) in his attempt to be a decent father.

You feel stuck in life. Stuck raising a son on your own. Now this dream can go a number of ways at this point. Read the rest of this entry »

The Great Goddess, a dream guide, a red rose and affirmation

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 22, 2009, at 2:45 pm

red-rose“Hello Dream Momma!

I saw your video from the St. Petersburg short film festival on http://www.roblimo.com/ and a dream that I had in the wee hours of Saturday came to mind. I was starting a job at a company I worked for 25 years ago, and only one person was still there (she would be close to 70 now and I haven’t had any contact with her in probably 20+ years). A gentleman in a suit, carrying a large bouquet of flowers (fall colors, I remember distinctly with no roses) had a single red rose in his other hand, which he gave to me and said welcome back. I knew this person wasn’t an employee, however I did thank him and call him by his name…Morley Safer. “Thank you, Morley!”

I normally don’t have dreams stick in my mind but this one was way far out there to say the least. Any clues as to what it might mean?” (sic)

p67334-New_Orleans-Harrahs_CasinoMy company recently sent me to attend a three-day work conference. I won’t elaborate as to which city hosted the conference as I’d hate to incriminate this fine town for its legal and moral shortcomings. Suffice it to say, the city boasts casinos, and prostitution is against the law… I think.

As I sat in front of my video poker machine, feeding it crisp twenty dollar bills with regularity and relishing in the fact that bourbon was free, I was eventually accosted by two young ladies and a gentleman. It was late at night (i.e., early in the morning) and it clearly seemed at first glance, even in my somewhat intoxicated state, that these two women could be “ladies of the evening.” They featured many characteristics often associated with the common call girl: short skirt, low-cut shirt, knee-high boots, heavy make-up, doused in perfume, toting a small purse, chewing bubble gum…

Aside from the fact that I was suddenly being solicited by two call girls in a country where prostitution is still illegal, there was something else askew with this picture. What was up with the guy they were with? He couldn’t be their pimp, could he? Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of killing cockroaches

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 21, 2009, at 2:45 pm

“I’m from Tampa Bay area. I read your blog. For a couple of nights now I have been having a recurring dream. I keep seeing a line of cockroaches crawling on the floor and I kill them. What exactly does this means?” (sic)CockroacheDream

If you think of the cockroach as a symbol you can begin to make some connections for yourself. Here’s one: I worked with a guy that dreamed of cockroaches all the time. He dreamed they were coming out of his pores. Well, when we began to look at connections he admitted to smoking pot.  For the unenlightened reader (and perhaps yourself) the very small end of a joint (marijuana cigarette) is called a roach. As we talked more about it he admitted he smoked a lot of pot. He smoked so much pot he had become a pothead. His dream was a warning get-a-clue dream.

Archetypally, a cockroach is a symbol of dirt and filth. It also represents the insect version of a rat and is tied to abandonment (i.e. rats leaving a sinking ship). It is believed that cockroaches and rats will inherit the earth; they are that indestructible as a species. Sometimes in dreams words need to be separated, so cockroach becomes cock and roach. Dreaming of a dancing stone foot

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 16, 2009, at 11:15 am

baalfoot“Dream Momma, I wanted to send you this dream to give you a smile. My husband told me yesterday morning that he had dreamed of a big stone foot that was possessed – and it was forced to tap-dance all over the place. He has just taken up a part-time corporate contract after being on sabbatical (to complete his Master of Commerce in Wine Management, his passion) in order to get some income to fund the set up of his new wine business. I’m not sure exactly how his situation connects to the dream symbol but my intuition says that it certainly does!”

Yikes! I’m not even smirking, much less smiling, and I fear you won’t be either when I tell you what I believe his dream means. Now, I usually don’t touch a dream sent by someone other than the dreamer, but my keen intuition tells me to make an exception here. I suspect it’s because you, the observer, are cloaking your fears in this pseudo-give-you-a-smile way. Why would you want Dream Momma to smile? I suspect deep down you don’t. What you want is for Dream Momma to soothe your fears and make you smile. Wish I could but that (playing mind games) is not my style. So, are you ready? If not, click delete … or steel yourself for a bitter pill. Read the rest of this entry »

How to flatter a working mother who’s been happily married to the same man for almost 15 years

Catherine Durkin Robinson is a handful creating quite a scene over at Out in Left Field.

From time to time, men hit on me.

Not a lot, but enough. How about that? I no longer repel.

Either smiling more than scowling, losing all that baby weight, getting in shape, figuring out what to do with my hair and discovering clothes that fit actually makes a difference, or middle-aged guys are goddamn desperate.

Going with desperate?

Perhaps.

One thing is for certain, most men in their 30s and 40s are no longer skilled in the art of seduction or flattery, if they ever were.

Dreaming of a transcendent experience

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 15, 2009, at 11:20 am

transcendence“Dear Dream Momma, I have been a member of a dream analyses group for 10 years and I am half Norwegian, my mother being completely Norwegian and with many relatives in Norway currently. Here is my dream:

I dreamt my mother and I were together and we met my father, who appeared to be with a younger woman. At first my inner reaction (towards the woman) was defensive and “who are you”? As the dream progresses I realize she is some kind of companion/friend/ soulmate.

We are invited (mom and I) and we go with them to this place, like some magnificent hotel, far, far away from anything (not earthly or earthbound). It has a golden/glow/light to it. As we enter, so do others and they all seem beautiful, happy, laughing, serene, at peace. This man seems to be Dad, (but more evolved, “together”, comfortable in his skin). There was talk of what we would be eating….beef vs fish. He said it would be fish. It was understood we would leave and come back later for dinner as they the others would rest or take some sort of break. It did not make sense to me to leave as it was so far away…..and then to come back for dinner?

My mother and I drove away in a car, it was invisible, but a convertible. wind was blowing through our hair. it wasn’t like driving a car, it was like flying or moving through space and there was an ethereal feeling. Thank you.” (sic)

I’d like to remind you and my readers about a big-time rule in dream interpretation. Rule number one is: Don’t literalize the dream. This rule seriously applies to this dream. So, if we follow that rule, what have we got?   Read the rest of this entry »

Young woman dreaming of a key

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 14, 2009, at 1:45 am

huge.72.361759.JPG“Dream Momma, I’m a young woman from Tampa. My dad died a little over a year ago. The other night I dreamed he gave me a key. The key was fancy and old. It was gold or gold metal. I read your blogs a lot so I know the key is probably a symbol, but still wanted some input from you.”

Thank you for following my blog and yes, you are correct: The key is a symbol. Now, the cool thing about dream symbols is that they are very specific in their own way. For example, ask yourself why he didn’t give you a different type of key; a modern one or a pink one with little dots on it?  This particular key is about your Read the rest of this entry »

Itty bitty titty committee (part one)

Posted by Miss Ginger Millay on Oct. 13, 2009, at 11:12 pm

boobs.largerAs a child, I spent many afternoons with Playboy magazines I found in my parents’ bathroom. I would hide one in my waistband, climb a tree, and find a comfortable spot to sit and flip through the pages. I didn’t read the articles, but rather stared at the big-breasted women coyly looking back at me.

I was thrilled at the prospect of growing up to look like these women. As they were the only naked ladies I’d ever seen, it only made sense that all women had these magnificent boobies. I eagerly awaited the day my own chest would blossom. 15 years later, I’m still waiting. Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of cold-hearted sex

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 12, 2009, at 11:30 am

cold heart 2“ Dream Momma, I dreamt I got a phone call from an old boyfriend (my first if ya know what I mean) from 27 years ago. The phone call went something like this – he says ” sorry. I. have not called. in.. a while….somebody……hurt me.” long pauses in the phone conversations and the “hurt me” was evil & drawn out…..I had fear. when I woke up my hand was in a position to have held a cell phone and it was locked like that for awhile. the weird thing is I was young – I never loved the guy & he never loved me (we just had sex for several months), so it was no great significance or loss when it was over. I cannot believe my subconscious would send me info from a casual affair when I have two men in my life (long term love relationships) that are more prominent & more recent. Even in my dream I was confused as to why this guy would be calling me. REally it was nothing special in real life.” (sic)

Dream Momma just loves those unconscious typos (“REally”).  Talk about denial of a tremendously significant passage in a young woman’s life. REALLY! So what’s up with that? Read the rest of this entry »

Dream-cheating while pregnant

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 9, 2009, at 11:30 am

“Dream Momma, I dreamed I was pregnant (which in real life I am) and that my husbands best friend entered my rooUnhappy-Pg-Womanm and started kissing my neck and I was going along with it. He then took off my clothes and his own clothes and showed me his big penis. I then told him to put on a condom because in my dream I was still aware I was pregnant. So we had sex (missionary style), which is not recommended to do while pregnant, but in my dream I let him because he wasn’t putting any pressure on my stomach like in real life my husband does. So while we were having sex, all I was thinking about was how I had just took my revenge that I was plotting against my husband and put it to action. We then finished and even though I did it to get back at my husband I begged him not to tell him. Still in my dream but later on that day we were all at the house and my husbands best friend was also there, but I felt so guilty. Even though I felt guilty I still wanted to do it again.” (sic)

Yikes, this is not good. Dream Momma wants to know why the hell you ever agreed to get pregnant? Or did you? Read the rest of this entry »

Dreaming of being pregnant with a snake

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 8, 2009, at 11:30 am

“I live in St. Petersburg, in my dream i was sleeping and i suddenly wake up and look out  the window. my ex17370snakeattack_w boyfriend is sitting with a girl next to a pool. all i could see is the back of my head and my ex and the new girl. my ex looks up and gives me the goofiest smile and starts waving, i give him the finger. next thing i know he’s climbing up the side of my house, and i help him climb through the window and into my room. he stands on my bed and he starts talking to me. next thing my dream switches to me in a room with my mom and i am slowly getting a belly, and i realize that i am pregnant. i’m confused why nobody is freaking out except me, and when i go to touch my belly half of it deflates and it becomes see through, and inside there is a snake growing inside of me. i start freaking out and my mom tells me that this happens to everybody when theyre pregnant. i got to school the next day and no one seems to notice that i am pregnant. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?” (sic)

Dreaming of ages and stages of sexuality

Posted by Dream Momma on Oct. 7, 2009, at 11:30 am

Sexual-Identity-dream“Dream Momma, In my dream I was in the middle of 4th grade and we moved because my father got a job offer with this other company. Even though I was sad about leaving my kindergarten friends and classmates behind I knew in the dream it was supposed to happen. My parents found the house we’re living at now. Suddenly I’m in 5th grade. In 5th grade all the 5th grade classes did a little act in the talent show. There was this guy who did a little rap and he had two friends who did a little dance behind him while he did it. I have no clue about the song or what he said to this day. I’m not a fan of rap. One of the guys who was doing the dance I was very drawn to. Being in 5th grade in the dream I didn’t think much of it just that I was physically attracted to him.” (sic)
