Yes, jealousy occurs in poly relationships. We’re no more excluded from it than a monogamous couple. The form it takes depends on the situation and people involved. Examples I’ve personally witnessed range from the traditional, “I’m afraid you’ll find someone better and leave me,” to  “I’m not jealous. I just don’t like that person and don’t want you to date them.” The most common form of  jealousy revolves around Partner A being so wrapped up in New Relationship Energy (aka “shiny, new person” or “honeymoon” phase) that Partner B feels neglected. There are a lot of anime fans who’d prefer to never acknowledge that some of us get into the kind of antics stereotypically associated with wild frat parties or douche bags. Luckily for CL readers, I’m not that kind of anime fan. Just about all of my convention stories feature sex, booze, trips to adult stores, and hotel pools. At the most recent convention, a friend asked why I never wrote about more of our antics. Answer: I couldn’t decide which story to share. Then the suggestions began. People never cease to amaze me when pushing their bodies’ artistic boundaries.  I thought I was daring when I got my nose pierced.  I was in Amsterdam at the time, high on mushrooms, and I thought that a piece of metal in my nose was just what I needed. Here are some commonly used terms in the swinger culture, as defined by our resident swinging correspondent, Rebecca (a.k.a.: Soccer Mom):

Unicorn: Single female. This person will always be in great demand and rarely seen.

Bisexual: A male or female who enjoys being with someone of the same sex. This will include oral sex, mutual masturbation, sex with hands, toys, penetration etc. Females are widely accepted, but unfortunately males still face some stigma with this label.

What is it about immortal blood sucking broodaholics that makes women swoon?  Is it the danger?  Is it the biting?  Because trust me girls, I can nibble your neck and I’ve been known to walk fast with a pair of scissors in my hand.  Or perhaps it’s something unattainable to us, the meek mortal man.

Vampire stories such as Twilight and True Blood are currently the hottest things on the market from books, to film/TV and even sex toys.  What gives?  The thought of having my blood removed from the warmth of my veins does not get me wild in the pants.  But the ladies, the ladies do love their undead bad boys.  They want to be taken to the edge and peer over the side.  It drives their juices and makes their heart feel a new sense of life.  The thought that you could be laying with your lover and in the throes of passion and he could take your life must be a mighty intoxicant.  But give me a shot of tequila over a chalice of blood any day.

Edward Cullen does have quite a few more desirable qualities than say Count Dracula.  For one he doesn’t consistently look like he’s heading to the opera.  He’s a moody, anti-social, and more Abercrombie than Hot Topic.  And you’d being lying if you couldn’t admit those eyes are DREAMY. Not too long ago, I wrote about being a credit to one’s kink and the problems I have with mainstream media covering my “kinks” in particular. Sure enough, an article on The Daily Beast about triads who wish to marry caught the attention of Fox News last week. They have since turned the matter into another round of slippery slope arguments that was chronicled by Media Matters. The claims are so ludicruous that I figured I would have to ram my head against concrete for it to make sense. Kudos to Jenny Block, author of Open: Love, Sex, and Life in an Open Marriage, for holding her own during her appearance on Fox & Friends.

It’s late when The Puppy, my live-in boyfriend, gets home. I haven’t seen him since I kissed him good-bye at 8:30 this morning. He takes off his shoes and gives me a kiss. If I’ve eaten already, I tell him where dinner is and ask him to put away the leftovers. After dinner, he hops onto Everquest 2 (aka Evercrack). I start shutting things down around 11 at the latest. I ask him what his weekend schedule is looking like as I pull my shirt over my head.

“Hold on, my girlfriend is talking to me,” he says to his friends online. Now that I have his attention he asks me to repeat the question. He does not look up as he answers. His attention is fixed on making sure his character is casting spells. I continue undressing. Naked, I bend over to pick up my discarded clothing. As I stand, I hear cursing from behind me:

Up until recently, two things I could say I had never done in the sack were filming and fisting. The latter tends to surprise people. Most people are confused about the difference between polyamory, polygamy, swingers, and cheating. Polyamory refers to having more than one, simultaneous, committed relationship where all parties know about the other and consent to the set-up.  Polygamy refers to being married to multiple people at the same time. Swinging is when a committed couple engages in casual sex with persons outside of their relationship with the consent, and sometimes inclusion, of both parties. Cheating is sneaking around behind your S/O’s back. I can’t think of anyone (polyamorous, polygamous, or swinger) that condones that kind of behavior.

How do you know which flavor you’re dealing with? Simple.

1. A fear of prostitutes.

2.  An intense paranoia of contracting STDs.

Use: In St. Pete it is hard not to have crypriphobia when the aggressive bus-stop prostitutes follow you to your car, begging for a ride.

Whiff of lav·en·der: n.

1.      A relationship or marriage that disguises one or both of the partners’ homosexuality.

Use: It is much easier to find a woman willing to have a whiff of lavender relationship if you have money or fame. Just look at Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

1. A derogatory nickname for a lesbian with facial hair.

2. The terms also refers to lesbian truck-drivers.

Dac•ry•phil•ia: noun
1. A sexual fetish involving tears or crying as a stimulus. It is often a form of humiliation in BDSM relationships which the dominant partner derives pleasure from causing the submissive partner to cry.
2. The pleasure and emotional release associated with crying.

Use: Many believe Oprah Winfrey has dacryphillia, as she seems to gets a strange pleasure from making her guests cry.

Mer•kin: noun

1. A pubic wig

2. A derogatory term used to describe a person who tries to conceal her lascivious tendencies.

Etymology: First used in around 1617, a merkin was a pubic wig prostitutes used to hide syphilis marks or genitals that were shaved in order to kill lice. Merkins are currently used by topless dancers and actresses to prevent full-frontal exposure.

Sad•dle•back•ing: \sa-dəl-ba-kiŋ\ verb.

1.  Engaging in anal sex under the premise of preserving virginal integrity and preventing birth. Specifically used to describe unprotected anal sex among heterosexual Christian teens for the above purposes.

Etymology: coined by sex advice writer Dan Savage in 2009, referring specifically to the Saddleback congregation of conservative pastor Rick Warren, who spoke at President Obama’s 2009 inauguration.
