Gossip Girl recap: OMJC

Posted by Bianca Siegel on Sep. 22, 2009, at 12:45 pm

GOSSIP GIRLOur favorite Upper East Siders started college this week. Dan, Vanessa and Blair all are at NYU, Nate’s starting at Columbia soon, and Serena is off to Brown, right? Maybe not. In her apparent quest to be the center of attention, Serena decided Brown was not the right decision for her. Ivy League just isn’t good enough for this van der Woodsen, so Serena is taking the path less traveled for now, socializing with martinis and Manolo Blahniks and living her fabulous life. Who needs college when you have limos, crazy woods sex with Carter Basin, and the world at your fingertips? At least for now…we’ll see what happens when Lily comes home.

While Serena is “finding herself,” guess who found Blair Waldorf? None other than Georgina Sparks (our favorite villain!) who is now also her new roommate. Welcome to your freshman year from hell, Blair! Let the battle for Queen B begin. While Blair tries and fails with headbands and sake (see above for proof), Georgina throws a boho chic rooftop rager. But Blair never admits defeat that early. Instead, she calls in new recruits in the form of missionaries from Georgina’s past at bible camp, all sporting shirts that say OMJC and tambourines… cause everyone loves a good Jesus party. You want me to do WHAT?

Posted by Ginger Ale on Apr. 15, 2009, at 12:41 am

I read Cecil Adams’ “What are the risks of hetersexual anal sex?’ last week and it made me think back to my phone sex days.  Most of the time my calls were pretty routine: what are you wearing, what do you look like, give me a blow job–the usual.  Then there were calls that made me think, what the fuck?

Some people have some freaky shit going on in their brains. I like to think I’m pretty open and accepting about sexuality. I come from a state where it’s legal to have sex with your animal.  I’m not into the whole, Tiajuanna Donkey Show, but hey if that’s what you’re into. Needless to say, something must be pretty extreme for me to think it’s a perversion.

For me, as long as your fantasy does not permanently injury me, I’m down to try just about anything once. I have to try everything to know whether or not I like it.  But this one caller had a request I knew I’d never try. The fetish did however make me think about how happy I was that he was on the phone and not doing this with some naïve young girl who didn’t how dangerous a fantasy like this could be. Back in black? Retro-style blaxploitation flick premieres at Sundance 2009

Posted by Nathan Andersen on Dec. 29, 2008, at 5:01 pm

Back in the day, films like Shaft, Foxy Brown and Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song styled funkalicious jazzy soundtracks, tough black heroes and heroines and corrupt white cops and politicians. A new genre was born, both celebrating and exploiting black culture, targeting urban African-American audiences with its style and subject matter. Some of the best of these films have become cult favorites, and have influenced new filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino, whose Jackie Brown paid explicit homage to the genre he’d grown up on and loved.

Shaft was remade in slick Hollywood style by John Singleton (Boyz ‘n The Hood) in 2000, featuring Samuel Jackson in the title role. But for the original low budget style and campy flair you had to go to the bargain bin DVD versions, until now.

Scott Sanders’ blacksploitation spoof Black Dynamite premieres this year as one of the “Midnight” category films at Sundance. If the trailer below is anything to go by, the funky magic and excitement appears to be back. Black Dynamite looks hilarious and hotter than TNT: Read the rest of this entry »
