Downtown Tampa parking spots transform into mini parks for PARK(ing) Day this Friday
Downtown Tampa is going green this Friday by participating in the national event, PARK(ing) Day, where ordinary parking spaces are transformed into mini “parks.” Yes, you may be thinking, “Isn’t parking there bad enough already?” or “Where am I going to park?” Well, the purpose for this event is to get people to not drive their cars to work for a day and use other modes of transportation — bikes, buses, free electric cart shuttles, etc.
So go green that day, if you work downtown, by finding an alternative ride to work, and enjoy those parking spaces instead by having a picnic lunch on one (weather permitted). Read more:
On this Friday, September 18th, mini-parks will be sprouting up in parking spaces in Downtown Tampa as part of PARK(ing) Day – an annual global event where parking spaces are transformed into parks for the day. These temporary park installations aim to transform urban environments designed for vehicle use into a communal space for public use, promote green initiatives, and bring awareness to civic processes and policies that directly impact our landscape and environment.
