Relationship f-ups caught on Facebook (hilarious pics)

Posted by Shawn Alff on Nov. 3, 2009, at 10:36 am

facebook-kelsea-in-the-showerSocial networking sites like Facebook have changed the face of modern dating, but this new technology isn’t without its flaws. We’ve all had a “friend” who has been caught flirting or cheating via illicit Facebook messages. One woman even discovered her marriage was over when her spouse spontaneously changed his relationship status to single. Below are a few awesomely hilarious examples of the various ways Facebook can f-up your dating life.

Potential date or creep: Rebecca considers fan mail

Posted by Rebecca Ammon on Sep. 24, 2009, at 10:30 am

dating-online-365-4-721727[1]As I was driving to work Monday, Fisher and Boy from the 97X morning show played a creepy voicemail from a dude attempting to get a date.  The bit was about a woman who was approached by a  guy who asked her out. She wasn’t interested and was only able to get rid of him by giving him her business card.  Probably a dumb move, but I sympathize. The guy called her two times leaving two very long, creepy messages.  Some men just can’t imagine why any female wouldn’t want to date or sleep with them. This made me consider all the creepy ways men have tried to weasel their way into my life, or at least my vagina. Read the rest of this entry »

Howdy new co-worker! How about some sex?

Posted by Single White Female on Sep. 22, 2009, at 10:30 am

It stands to reason that at some point in our lives, we are going to have to deal with the, “sex/relationship with a co-worker” situation.

Most of us spend more time at the office than anywhere else. It’s a great dating pool, as long as you ignore every rule of human resources and don’t mind the fact that you will be haunted by said sex or relationship until one of you quits or dies. Read the rest of this entry »

How to tell if your potential date is a loser: vol. 1

Posted by Shawn Alff on Sep. 10, 2009, at 10:18 am

enoughsaidI consider myself an authority on spotting losers because, well, I used to be one. I only exempt myself now because I’m married. Not to say that all married men make quality boyfriends; I just feel that if you’re able to convince a woman to marry you after five years of dating, either you’re not a loser or you’re extraordinary at hiding it.

Obviously there are as many ways to tell if a potential man-date is a loser as there are breeds of crotch ponies. To complicate things, everyone has their own definition of what constitutes a loser. For instance, you may be perfectly fine dating a man I consider a loser because you’re desperate or you’re willing to overlook his lacking qualities in lieu of, say, his bank account. With that said, below is a list of signs the guy you just met is a loser

-When asked what he does, he says, “I’m in a band,” or “I’m an artist.” Read the rest of this entry »

Add an informative green fact to your email signature

Posted by Jason Green on Aug. 26, 2009, at 11:30 am

It’s not easy being green, you work hard to live sustainably, and at the same time you take every opportunity to enlighten others to live socially and environmentally responsible lives, if you didn’t you wouldn’t be reading this Creative Loafing Green Community post.

Here’s an idea…

It’s nice to see the “please print only if necessary” or “please consider the environment before printing this email” messages at the bottom of emails, but that statement really means nothing.  If you are going to add a tag (signature) to the end of every email you send, consider an informative/educational message.  Think about changing your email tag to include an environmentally meaningful and thought provoking fact.

For example:

Top “Priceless” Mastercard sex jokes of all time (NSFW)

Posted by InnocentUWish on Jul. 2, 2009, at 10:30 am

Time for a little comic relief after a long ass day of menial work.  A co-worker sent me one of those emails with a lame Mastercard priceless picture joke attached to it.  Like I give two shits about a kitten on a ledge!  It got me thinking about the extremely hilarious and shocking ones I’ve seen.  The world wide web is a marvelous thing! I decided to share my top picks for the Mastercard “priceless” jokes and of course they have to do with sex! (Unfortunately I had to censor the top two because they showed a little too much, even for Creative Loafing, so here are my top 6).

1)  I can’t even imagine the stuff you could catch!  OMG Read the rest of this entry »

Jettin’ to green: JetBlue’s new iniative for the environment

Posted by Michelle Schenck on Apr. 28, 2009, at 6:00 am

JetBlue Airlines has developed a new program called One Thing That is Green in honor of this year’s Earth Day. This program, lasting until June 16th, is a pledge by its participants to reduce and reuse this year for the betterment of the earth. Some of the pledges include reducing shower time, replacing standard light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs and adjusting your thermostat for 2 degrees this summer.    Read the rest of this entry »

Men should come with warning labels

Posted by Jane Isaacs on Mar. 1, 2009, at 2:33 pm

There are men in this world that should come with a warning label. These men come in variations forms, but my personal favorite is the kind who is smart to appear sane through the witty anecdotes and half-truths he posts online.

Recently I met a man named Ben on match.com who suckered me in. 28, single, in school for an elevated sounding degree, he was perfect, at least his description of himself was perfect. But Ben is a dangerous type of man. He’s a witty, science nerd, terribly handsome, with a subtle hint of brokenness that gives him a mysterious air. He is a man who’s got a sob story to tell and I’m a woman who likes a broken man I can fix.

But he won’t hit you with the violins and fake tears yet. No, he flatters you and your charm and wonders why you’re single. He tells you that there isn’t any way he’d let a wonderful woman like you pass him by – if we lived in the same area. Yes, charmers like this always live at least a state away. But what does distance matter to true love. Read the rest of this entry »
