“Well, I’ll start of with the basics you’ll need to know to understand how this is so confusing to me. All my life i’ve constantly been told by girls “i only like you as a friend” There this girl in real life who i really like, but we’re just friends, best friends to be exact, and i’m totally fine with that. In fact, i am great with it because relationships often die out but friendships don’t. She is in my dreams almost every night, but last night, “she was in my dream but only in the background a couple of times and we spoke a little bit. The strangest part is now, there was this girl in my dream (who i don’t know in real life, she was obviously made up in my dreamland) who is completely not my type in looks and personality. But for some reason i started to like her, a lot, and just as i was getting the courage up to ask her on a date, she makes it very clear that we’re just friends. Not only that, but one of my childhood friends who i am still currently friends with also liked her but she also only liked him as a friend too, but i was willing to go behind his back to go on a date with the girl who we both liked (and i wouldn’t do that in real life, i’m not that kind of guy)” (sic)

I can remember back in high school when I finally met him. Scooby, as he is known, was the first male friend that I did not have a romantic interest in — and I was ecstatic. Of course, I was very much interested in his best friend at the time, but that is irrelevant, so I digress. I started thinking the other day about all the male friends I have in my life and how at one point or another I have found all of them attractive.

I have always been the type to make more male friends than female friends, and I could never understand why. Throughout my high school years, any male that I came in contact with I would automatically fall “in love” with. My hormones were erupting and I would envision him and me together – someday. But then Scooby came along. It was not because he was unattractive or boring; in fact he was and still is quite the opposite. His punk rock persona paired with his great body (he was a high school wrestler) did not have the slightest affect on me. To this day I don’t know what snapped in my brain, but I just was not interested in him.

She may have seen his face a million times, but standing there in the mobbed airport terminal, her nerves were getting to her. She was anxious to see the man for whom she’d shared so many amazing words, so much friendship. ”What the hell are you afraid of?” she kept repeating in her head, not that her brain was listening. It was only a wedding date. He simply needed a warm body to sit in the pew with. He wasn’t coming all this way just for her. Right?

Hello internets! I’ve come from far, far away in time and space, oh wait…. that’s the other Doctor.  Well actually I’m just from Earth, like you.  You may call me “Doctor Why“.

I’ve come to offer my advice–advice on relationships, friendships, love, and just ‘what should I do’ types of questions.

Why should you ask me, you may be asking yourself?  Well… why not?!! I’m a doctor!* (No, not really).  In truth I have had a crazy life with many different experiences, circles of friends, love triangles, anti-friend-group-getting-together problems, or antifrigroproblem, (Yes, I just made that up) and over the years people have come to value my opinions (their personal sanity is in question).
