Director Pierre Morel’s second action-packed movie, From Paris With Love hits theaters this week. The Taken director decided to completely change the formula of his last movie, remaking the hero from a calm, cool and collected Liam Neeson to an explosive, bald, F-bomb dropping John Travolta. From Paris With Love is a buddy-cop type movie that pairs the feisty Charlie Wax (Travolta) with the calculating and slightly anal James Reece (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) as they shoot their way through Paris in an attempt to uncover a plot of drugs, or terrorism, or something.

The newest trailer for a movie called Chloe is out, and people are taking notice. Before you shrug it off as just another French movie, note the A-list cast: Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore and Jennifer’s Body co-star Amanda Seyfried.

At first, the movie looks like a typical love-triangle-gone-awry story, with Moore hiring Amanda Seyfried to “present herself” to straying-husband Neeson to see if he takes the bait. Before long, the beautiful blond is all kinds of naked, turning Moore’s business deal in to oh so very much more. Scandalous!

Besides the fact Amanda Seyfried is gorgeous, she’s also incredibly talented. I can’t wait to see what she can do under the guidance of acclaimed director Atom Egoyan.

Man, I loved The A-Team. It was a simpler time back in 1983. I was 7 years old, and the exploits of a gang of soldiers for hire driving a bad-ass van were simply too much for my young brain to process. Jump ahead 27 years and here comes Hollywood to further crap all over my childhood. The trailer for The A-Team is preposterous: Fast cars, big guns, things shooting other things in the sky while falling after being shot themselves and exploding — and was that Jessica Biel with some guy’s hand down her pants?!!?

Ok, so the casting isn’t half-bad. In addition to the lovely Biel, there’s Liam Neeson lending gravitas and taking over for George Peppard as Hannibal; The Hangover’s Bradley Cooper, maybe even prettier than Dirk Benedict, as Templeton “Face” Peck; MMA star Quinton “Rampage” Jackson showcasing the brawn (and the mohawk) Mr. T rode to stardom as strongman B.A. Baracus; and finally, in what may be the most genius casting of all, District 9’s terrific Sharlto Copely gets to channel Dwight Schultz as lunatic pilot H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdoch.

That’s a lot of talent, but can director Joe Carnahan rise above his resume (most notable credit: Smokin’ Aces) to deliver a quality A-Team flick? We’ll find out on June 11.

The Loafies — our annual celebration in honor of the Best of the Bay issue — are your chance to meet the winners and mingle with the tastemakers of Tampa Bay at our homecoming/house party/awards show (no word on whether Kanye’s gonna ruin my award presentation). Come out for food, fashion, drink, dancing and more, with live music by Best of the Bay winners Nervous Turkey (pictured) and Shunda K, 500 Wolves and more. Rumor has it that The Senator will be making a guest appearance, though how he could possibly top last year’s show is anybody’s guess.
