“Hi!  I live in Tampa. A while ago, I dreamt that I was getting married. Everything seemed to be normal at the wedding, until I looked at a picture that someone had taken. My gown was black, as were my bridesmaids. The whole male wedding party was also wearing nothing but black! I’m only 14 years old, don’t have a boyfriend, and definitely DON’T want to be married. Can you tell me what this means?” (sic)

It’s interesting that at an age when young girls fantasize about boys, weddings, marriage, etc., you are sooo adamant that you DON’T want to get married.  What’s up with that?

Every Upper East Sider loves a good wedding. The flowers, the toasts, the dress … well, Lily’s fifth wedding was anything but the usual affair. Besides actually marrying for love instead of money or status, Lily and Rufus’ wedding (that was 20 years in the making) was spur of the moment. Just like the weed-induced proposal and the announcement of their love child right before the “I Dos” (Thank you, Georgina.) Not only was it spur of the moment, but it almost didn’t happen.

Lily can never commit and always has a reason to run from Rufus, but after 20 years, a love child (a fake death of a love child), their children getting together, and Lily’s four previous marriages, it’s time for them to get together and stay together in holy matrimony til death do they part. But lets hope that doesn’t happen too soon — Lily has already been a widow once.

The New York Times reported Saturday that Andrew Young–the man who once said he fathered John Edward’s mistress’ child–now claims that Edwards is in fact the father of Rielle Hunter’s child.

Young, the former Edwards aide who has a book deal with St. Martin’s Press, said in his proposal that Edwards not only fathered Hunter’s child, but worked with his campaign finance chair to keep the affair a secret. Read the rest of this entry »

The Derby Darlins have a successful first green event with T.R.E.E. at Little Bayou Park- Michelle Schenck reports on the roller girls from the Tampa Bay Derby Darlins‘ tree planting event last Saturday in St. Petersburg, an effort to offset all of the carbon emissions from their travels.

Let’s transform this ‘domination culture’ into a ‘partnership culture’ (Videos) – Eric Stewart asks: Is this the America we are handing over to our children? One thats main concern is violence and domination of the world? This government was put in place for the people: do the people want 60% of our taxes going to support defense? Why can’t 60% of our taxes go towards supporting education, renewable energy, as well as redoing the social net so that every human being in our country has their needs taken care of?

As we look back on the traditional wedding month of June, many couples are extending their lifestyle commitment of sustainability to their day of exchanging vows. As we know from experience, weddings can be an extremely wasteful event. There are certainly different shades of green but here are some wonderful ways committed partners are lessening their impact on our battered earth.

Invitations are sent via e-mail. This reduces transportation costs and the raw material to make the paper.

Attendees are asked to dress casually so that the temperature of the facility can be set degrees warmer, or the ceremony and reception are planned outdoors in a tree-filled park.

She may have seen his face a million times, but standing there in the mobbed airport terminal, her nerves were getting to her. She was anxious to see the man for whom she’d shared so many amazing words, so much friendship. ”What the hell are you afraid of?” she kept repeating in her head, not that her brain was listening. It was only a wedding date. He simply needed a warm body to sit in the pew with. He wasn’t coming all this way just for her. Right?
