Yoforia frozen yogurt coming to Charlotte

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

image002Yum! I love frozen yogurt!

Yoforia, an Atlanta-based frozen yogurt company, is planning to open two locations here in the Charlotte area. Score!

From a press release:

Atlanta, GA (October 22, 2009) Yoforia, having established frozen yogurt domination in Atlanta, has announced that they are expanding outside of the Peach State and opening two new stores this winter in Charlotte, NC.

The popular neighborhoods of South Charlotte and Myers Park have been chosen as the ideal environment for the rollout of Yoforia Frozen Yogurt in North Carolina.  The new stores will be located in existing shopping centers of Selwyn Corners (2823 Selwyn Ave., Suite J) and The Shops at Piper Glen (5432 Red Rd., Suite A-2-near Trader Joes). Each store opening will bring 10 new job opportunities to the area.  Yoforia will infuse their traditional 1,200 square foot locations with their signature bright orange and green colors and clean, modern design.  Operating hours will be:

Mon-Thurs, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Fri-Sat, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.; Sun 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

7-layer Whopper for Windows 7

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Windows 7 hit stores yesterday, and with it came a whopper of a promotion. Considering how obese Americans are, thankfully, this promotion is in Japan only.

From PCWorld.com:

For the next seven days, Burger King will be a selling a gigantic seven-layer Whopper, which is apparently a gargantuan five-inches thick. The price? Y777, of course — at least for the first 30 customers each day. If you’re customer number 31, you’ll be paying Y1450. Given that a double Whopper is loaded with just shy of 1,000 calories, we’re guessing that this one’s a good few days worth of “nutrition.”

Eww. I can just imagine. Watch this video via CheapAssGamer.com:

The world would be a better place …

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

vangogh… if there were more restaurants like these.

Van Gogh is Bipolar is a cafe … yes, a place you eat food at … in the Philippines. Aside from its unusual name, its appeal is that it offers food that is supposed to improve your mood.

From Springwise.com:

The cafe only serves all-natural ‘happy-hormone-producing’ foods, set to lift customers’ moods. Its menu is loaded with foods that are believed to help balance the brain’s levels of serotonin and dopamine, which in turn helps alleviate mild to moderate depression.

Don’t believe ‘em? Here’s a link to their menu, complete with descriptions of how the ingredients are supposed to relieve anxiety, release dopamine or beat depression.

Doesn’t that look good? Eat yourself happy the next time you’re visiting the Philippines!

Sushi lovers will want this

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

“Hey Kim, what time is it?”

“Oh, it’s half-past salmon.”

“Huh?”

sushi-clock-2

I guess you couldn’t really say that unless you had one of these … a sushi clock.(FYI: The sushi isn’t real; it’s art, people!)

What a great way to add color to your kitchen … and it’s not a bad conversation starter, either. If it weren’t for its price tag — $312 US dollars — I’d get one.

Of course, if the idea of raw fish makes you a little queasy, this might not be the timepiece you want to rely on.

To purchase one, visit Japan Trend Shop. (Side note: The battery is included but the manual is in Japanese. Oops).

Florida inmates make, market hot sauce

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this.

A group of inmates from Florida’s Hillsborough County Jail are making and marketing their own hot sauce. JailHouseFire hot sauce comes in three varieties—Original, Smoke and No Escape—all made from peppers grown right there onsite.

Currently available only online, all proceeds support inmate programs.
