Wine Exchange Closing

May 8th, 2007 by Brian Ries in Gossip, Openings/Closings, Restaurants

Wayne Garcia (the PoHo himself) laid out a rumor yesterday that the Wine Exchange in South Tampa is closing. Confirmed it today — the final day is Mother’s Day. Nothing new scheduled to go into the space and, as yet, no info as to the reason. Thanks Wayne.

That’s SAD> I’m sure it will be for some magically filled with new people condominiums. (nothing against the new people who are decent and not more gangsters)
The properties to either side of it owned by some of the worst players in the game (bank of america and etc) thanks for the heads up to pay her one last visit. Got to where I took her for granted.

That’s too bad - it is a nice restaurant and I’ve known a lot of people who have worked there. It is one of the only decent places in Hyde Park to hang out and eat and have some beers or glasses of wine. I’m sure any new establishment there will be a yuppie filled suck fest with crappy over priced “new cuisine”… RIP, Wine Exchange…

Another piece of Tampa history gone. Not that we have enough condos around??!! The movie theater is gone too…. It is so sad.

The Wine Exchange reopened on June 1st, ‘07 in its original location and is currently open until Feb. 25th ‘08. It will reopen again on March 3rd ‘08 in the new location on Dakota Ave. The new location will of course have a patio for outdoor dining as well as a full bar and expanded wine list. We are excited to be breathing new life into the Village and appreciate all of the support the community has given us.
