Atlanta sailor protests war

January 16, 2007 at 5:28 pm by Web Editor in News

Navy seaman Jonathan Hutto of Atlanta is scheduled at 5 p.m. today to deliver an Appeal for Redress to Congress in Washington, D.C.

According to Hutto’s website, "Many active duty, reserve, and guard service members are concerned about the war in Iraq and support the withdrawal of U.S. troops. The Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to their Congressional Representative and U.S. Senators to urge an end to the U.S. military occupation."

Ann Mauney of the Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition says Hutto and other soldiers and sailors originally planned to deliver the appeal messages yesterday, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but had to re-schedule.
