AJC meets on its fate
February 15, 2007 at 5:14 pm by Web Editor in NewsAJC staff members are meeting as we post to hear about their future. Below is AJC Editor Julia Wallace’s note telling staff members to attend the meeting. Worries are running rampant within the staff, but we don’t yet know what Wallace and company are announcing. One thing we do know: Like almost all print media, the AJC is quaking over the migration of readers and advertising dollars to the Web. More on this story as we get new developments.
To all,
Please plan to attend a very important staff meeting. We will discuss how the newsroom will be realigning, based on the work we need to do. Since the core/online group returned with findings about the need to re-invent print and build online even faster, we have been discussing how to best make that happen. We’ll discuss how we will position the newsroom for the future and for continuous renewal and reinvention so we are able to perform our work far into the future. What you will hear will affect every newsroom staffer. Supervisors are arranging for a small number of employees to stay behind to update ajc.com and monitor news. Otherwise, everyone should adjust their schedules to attend this meeting.
If you cannot attend, please notify your department head by the end of Wednesday.
