Whether in the 21st century or the 17th century, few people remind us of life’s fragility like the poor. A thoughtful testament to both Rembrandt’s sympathetic eye and the loneliness of this eternal condition, the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art features SORDID AND SACRED: THE BEGGARS IN REMBRANDT’S ETCHINGS in honor of the Dutch master’s 400th birthday. The touring exhibition, on view Tues., MARCH 13 and through May 13, includes 35 etchings. One of the art world’s most renowned painters and printmakers, Rembrandt gave his lowly subjects “sanctity and individuality,” writes Gary Schwartz in an essay accompanying the exhibition. $5.
