High-stakes Vegas boxing matches got nothing on the Food Network’s “Iron Chef.” Atlanta foodies won’t be able to quiet their cheers while watching an upcoming episode of “Iron Chef America” that features one of their own. In the right corner, battling to become the next Iron Chef: Atlanta’s homegrown hotcake, Restaurant Eugene’s sire of salmon and prince of produce, chef Linton Hopkins. Surprising ingredients don’t throw Hopkins off a bit since Restaurant Eugene’s menu morphs daily to include the freshest local produce. It’s this constant cuisine exercise that keeps Hopkins on his toes and Restaurant Eugene a 10-to-1 favorite. Fortunately, “Iron Chef” is one prizefight that’s not pay-per-view. Atlanta’s culinary movers and shakers can watch the spectacle and root for the homeboy April 8, at 10 p.m on the Food Network.
