Streetalk: How would you rate Screen on the Green’s lineup this year?

Gino: It’s better than years past. There’s something for everybody. Casablanca is the best movie of all time. Car Wash. I just can’t wait for them to play that song. You’ll get to see over a thousand people simultaneously singing. And E.T. I brought my girlfriend to see it in high school and she left me because I cried. I realize now she was a horrible person. If you didn’t cry in E.T. there’s something wrong with you.

Cecily: Casablanca is more for an artsy crowd. That is not a good selection. Last year the movie pickings were phenomenal. You had Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Everybody stood, clapped. Amazing. Feel-good movies. Those under 30 won’t come to see Casablanca and they won’t know anything about a Barbra Streisand movie. I’ve heard of Butch Cassidy, haven’t seen it. Kids, like 13 to 40, are probably your biggest crowd. These are selected for an older group.

Marquise: I like every one of these movies. They’re all classics, especially Funny Girl and E.T. I would say be open-minded and give these movies a chance, and once they see them I’m sure they will love them. I love Barbra Streisand. She’s just a class act. Her acting is good and her singing is even better. She’s wonderful. Car Wash is definitely funny, definitely retro and definitely ‘70s. These movies are all great.

If you don’t know anything about Barbra Streisand movies - it’s time you learn! My wish for Screen on the Green - a screen twice the current size (a la NYC and Chicago) and twice the number of movies. And maybe a fall season - cooler and earlier start times.
