Meet me or avoid me: Queen of the Strut Pageant

The pageant winner gets to ride on the Queen of the Strut float in next week’s East Atlanta Strut parade.
What: East Atlanta Queen of the Strut Pageant
Where: Mary’s, 1287-B Glenwood Ave., East Atlanta Village, 404-624-4411
When: 10:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8
Why: Because your $5 cover charge goes to Animal Action Rescue, a local nonprofit that rescues and finds homes for abused, abandoned and stray animals — such as little Stanley:
Show up and say hi to me, and I’ll buy you drink. I’m easy that way.
