Here’s your chance to test-drive an escape pod exciting new car! From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 5-7 at the Whole Foods Midtown on Ponce, you can strap yourself into a smart fortwo — “a small car with a big urban solution” — and whiz around a closed course. Picking up where the Mini Cooper left off and The Italian Job failed, this machine boasts a safe and fuel-efficient ride.
The event will be the car’s first test in the United States and is free. For specs and more info, click here.

I saw one of those driving around Ga Tech yesterday.
I’d like to get one, but then I remembered this and imagined rush hour in the downtown connector.

The website says the thing is designed for 40mpg???
Good God. Blowing $12K on half a car/pocket deathtrap and only getting 40mpg? Next thing they’ll be telling us is that the cover charge at the Clermont is a real steal!
Save your dignity. Buy a Japanese coupe and try biking now and then.

But the question is: Will Mr. T drive one of these puppies? I think not.

Mr. Acworth Beach, I heard they’re amphibious.
Come on, you know you’re tempted.

Mr. T travels only in vans or D.C. cabs. I pity the fool.

Come on, Mr. T. Branch out, sucka.
Speaking of which, has anybody tried these things yet? I might go give one a ride tomorrow.
