Now that the Grady Task Force is out with their recommendations, maybe it is time to examine that group and how they fit into the overall scheme of things. Fortunately, at least one entity has the ability to that and it is unfortunately a blogger from the Midwest. Here it is anyway...

I have also put together a full dossier on the corruption that I believe inhabits Grady and beyond. Read everything in the link and see how deep it is...

"John" whomever you are - do you sit as a coward behind fake assertions, or are you simply part of the Emory PR machine? I have been to the courthouse, I have seen the records, and you are simply plain wrong. Not only are you wrong in your assertions, but you state them with such vigor and candor, which is dangerous in many respects - I would hope you don't do this to your patients.

Do you know why Emory kicked Kevin out? Was it because of "bad character"? If you knew what you were talking about, then you would be able to answer that question. If that were the case, would they have kicked out a convicted felon? Is Kevin manufacturing that he made patient care allegations and was charged with seemingly pretextual trivialities immediately thereafter? - the court records seem to indicate so. Did Kevin participate in a hospital investigation - the report seems to indicate so. Has Emory done this kind of thing before? The evidence undeniably points to that. Did Emory follow their rules with Kevin - it doesn't seem so - I could go on, but unsubstantiated and callous assertions are only that. Have you seen his evaluations? I wouldn't comment unless you can back up what you are saying with anything tangible.

It is easy to make vague and unsubstantiated assertions especially when they don't need to be backed up, John. It is even easier to make unsubstantiated assertions when you don't have to reveal who you are. If you have evidence of any of what you claim, please email me since my email address is on my site. I find it hard to believe that someone would get to 41 days from graduation if they couldn't even finish their first year in one year. If Kevin wasn't up to par as you claim, his grades would have knocked him out long before he actually was.

If anyone wants to read something besides vague assertions check out my latest piece on Kent Alexander.

I was in Kevin's class at Emory (well at one point as it took him several years to complete one academic year), and the allegations by Emory concerning his behavior, ethics and morals are accurate. He should not be taking care of patients plain and simple.

One of the things so far still believed in, in this 62 year old's mind is that in America, all citizens stand equal in a court of law and that here the common man has the best chance for justice in the world. With the Kuritzky Emory case...well...the jury is still out.

The revelation that the pre-trial judge who said that Kuritzky didn't have a good enough case against Emory to receive a 'day in court' before a jury was at the same time listed on a published "honored" Emory graduate list is apalling. Particularly when the 'honor' directly relates to repeated and concurrent financial contributions to defendent Emory.

While one learns over the years of injustice in America, bad, unpricipled judges, ethically bankrupt lawyers, and unchecked wealthy power in the court, this case is so blatant in so many ways that it deserves a full feature in a paper/magazine/broadcast that still carries what's left of the flame for full investigative reporting.

Where is the AJC? Where is a good follow on by the Loaf? While the Emory 'student newspaper' "The Wheel" should be taking a courageous lead, the hands steering things there are not on student arms. I'm looking forward to seeing this story in the main Atlanta media but it may come here via outside media unless the Loaf does it's usual good work here and beats them to it.

The undisputed fact that Emory destroyed and also withheld important e-mail about Kuritzky is alone a big story. What?, why?, when?, ought to stimulate a reporter's appetite... it does mine as a reader. Was this really "spoliation" as Kuritzky claims? Maybe a jury should decide instead of a single activist judge who is actively "honored" by the university.

There is SO MUCH in this about Emory that only a few people know. As a past student and faculty member [not at Emory] I think that students and faculty at Emory would be clamoring for full revelation of more than the administration's public relations noise about this case.

This clearly deserves a public trial before a jury with an unconflicted, judge.

To the Above: (probably Ron Sauder)
Emory never made numerous allegations against Kevin. Secondly, the judge never disclosed that he had been giving money to Emory during his case. Thirdly, the case wasn't dismissed - it is in the Appeals Court. Fourthly, Emory had their PR guy, Ron Sauder call the Chronicle and tell them these fallacies. Fifthly, this comment sounds strangely like Kent Alexander's comment in the AJC on Oct 10th about the unsealing - it sounds familiar:

"The real victim in all of this is Grady, the largest public health hospital in the Southeast. Grady is struggling to survive while misinformation circulates that, unintentionally or intentionally, diverts attention from the real issues." - Kent Alexander and Tim Jefferson AJC 10/10/07

This is Mike Volpe Proprietor at Proprietor Nation, the blog this story links to. You know what is interesting about the response above mine. It is strangely familiary.

Here is a cut and paste from this particular article of mine.

http://proprietornation.blogspot.com/2007/10/corruption-at-emory-universityopening.html

A judge ruled in Emory's favor on this one (See mention below from a highly regarded education publication). The Atlanta community needs to stay focused on the larger issues of how to transform Grady so that it can become solvent.

ALLEGED NEGLECT: A lawsuit filed by a former medical student at Emory University who alleged that it neglected patients at its two teaching hospitals was dismissed last month by a Georgia judge who ruled summarily for the university. The former student, Kevin D. Kuritzky, was dismissed from Emory's medical school 41 days before he was scheduled to graduate, in 2005. He said university officials were angry that he had exposed the neglect of patients and, in retaliation, expelled him. The judge in the case, Robert J. Castellani of the DeKalb County Superior Court, sided with the university, writing, "The allegations brought against the student for dishonesty, and unprofessional and unethical conduct were numerous."

Except that there are 2 problems:
