Weather Channel founder: Sue Al Gore to expose global warming

March 4, 2008 at 11:16 am by Thomas Wheatley in News

Heartland Climate Change Deniers Global Warming John Coleman, founder of the Atlanta-based Weather Channel, spoke at a gathering of loons in New York and said to “finally put some light on the fraud that is global warming,” critics of the glaringly obvious changes happening in our world should sue those who are bringing it to attention, such as Al Gore and those selling carbon credits. Legal action would force them to honestly describe the policies they propose.

The gathering of loons is the serious-sounding “International Conference on Climate Change,” a global-warming deniers paradise coordinated by the Heartland Institute.

From ThinkProgress:

Heartland’s extreme anti-environmentalism no doubt spawns from its supporters. Between 1998 and 2005, oil giant ExxonMobil gave nearly $800,000 to Heartland. The group’s Board of Directors also explains the group’s climate change denials:

– Thomas Walton is the Director of Economic Policy at General Motors.

–James L. Johnston is a former senior economist for oil company Amoco Corporation.

–Walter F. Buchholtz is a former member of Heartland’s board of directors and worked as ExxonMobil’s Senior Issues Advisor.

–James M. Taylor is editor of Heartland’s weekly Environment & Climate News and wrote an op-ed criticizing Gore’s “Assault On Reason” insisting that “global warming threats they should not be deliberately exaggerated as a means of building support for a desired political position.”

Any day now, some sanity would be nice.

I am greatly disappointed to find out that James Taylor is associated with this group.

I always thought “Fire and Rain” was a poignant musing of love and friendship lost; not some kind of pro-big-oil, anti-environment manifesto.

Sunny days that never end, indeed.

We here at CL had a nice big collective cry when we read that as well, nast. “Steamroller” takes on a whole different meaning now.

What is it they say? “Never have heroes, for they shall one day disappoint you.” How true. How true.

    (sobs uncontrollably)

some might consider thinkprogress a “gathering of loons.”

    just sayin’

Global Warming is not happening. We are still coming out of an ice age. I agree we are polluting our waterways, but we are not warming the earth. Wake up people. Do research and do not listen to the media. DO a UTUBE search on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ij5oQuZLvw

    Al Gore is a moron.

TM - Soylent green is made of people. For real.

Billions of dollars flow to scientists who report the right things for the global warming side. We can play that game all day long. Everyone is pre-disposed to believe the “science” that supports their worldview. Woodward and Bernstein said to follow the money. I agree, but shouldn’t we follow ALL the money and question ALL of the results it purchases?

Please remember these were the same sources of “The New Ice Age” back in the 70’s. They defend that error by saying that we have a better understanding of the data today. I bet that is what the doctors who placed leeches on Colonists told the Indian medicine men.

What ever happened to the AIDS pandemic to which we were all at risk? The one the scientists in the 80’s (at least those pushing for huge government research dollars for AIDS research said was sure to come?
