Beltline hires design director
June 2, 2008 at 8:59 am by Thomas Wheatley in NewsAfter many months of headhunting — and concern from the design community — Atlanta Beltline Inc. has found its design director.
The nonprofit planning arm of the proposed $2.8-billion loop of parks, trails and transit has tapped Fred Yalouris, the former director of architecture and urban design of Boston’s bold and controversial Big Dig, to take the job. He starts today.
Yalouris will lead a 10-person staff that has already made progress in imagining how the transformative project will come to life over the next 25 years. He’ll be at the helm to ensure the planned “emerald necklace” will have a consistent flow and feel.
