Witness: Young Jeezy received kilos of BMF coke
June 13, 2008 at 3:30 pm by Mara Shalhoup in BMFTestimony offered yesterday in the federal government’s cocaine-conspiracy case against alleged Black Mafia Family member Fleming “Ill” Daniels revealed a stunning allegation: According to a witness, Atlanta hip-hop superstar Jay “Young Jeezy” Jenkins received kilos of cocaine from BMF.
Jeezy has not been charged with a crime in relation to the allegation. When asked whether there is an open investigation into the rapper, Justice Department spokesman Patrick Crosby said he had no comment.
Scott Leemon, the New York-based lawyer who represented Jeezy on weapons charges out of Miami in 2006, told CL “obviously, I am not going to comment on anything. I will look into it.”
The allegation was raised in U.S. District Court in Atlanta this week by a BMF member named Ralph “Ralphie” Simms. Simms was indicted last year in a related federal drug case in L.A. He told the jury that in exchange for his truthful testimony in the case against Daniels, he hoped to receive a reduced sentence.
Simms testified that his job was to unload BMF’s cocaine from limos outfitted with secret compartments. He said he piled as many as 100 “bricks” of cocaine at a time inside the basement of one of BMF’s stash houses, an ultra-modern Buckhead mansion nicknamed “Space Mountain.” And he said that on one occasion, in the fall of 2004, he was ordered by high-ranking BMF members Chad “J-Bo” Brown and Martez “Tito” Byrth to set aside multi-kilo cocaine “shipments” for two customers. Simms said the customers picked up the coke from him at Space Mountain.
When asked by assistant U.S. Attorney Robert McBurney who the customers were, Simms gave two names: William “Doc” Marshall, a high-level BMF co-conspirator who testified earlier in the trial, and “Jeezy.”
“Young Jeezy the rapper?” McBurney asked.
“Yes,” Simms answered.
Jeezy’s name cropped up several times in the first two days of testimony, but only in relation to his well-publicized friendship with BMF’s Atlanta-based leader, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory. In November, Flenory pleaded guilty in Detroit to running a continuing criminal enterprise. He faces a minimum sentence of 20 years.
BMF is believed to have employed 500 people across the country in its $270 million cocaine ring — nearly 150 of whom have been indicted in seven states. According to testimony in Daniels’ trial this week, BMF only dealt in multiple kilos of cocaine, which were distributed to other cocaine dealers.
Daniels, who was described during testimony as BMF’s third-in-command under Flenory, was indicted along with 15 co-defendants last year in Atlanta. (Daniels also faces a murder charge in Fulton County Superior Court.) He is the only local defendant to go to trial on the federal charges. Nine of his co-defendants, including the rapper Barima “Bleu DaVinci” McKnight, pleaded guilty over the past two weeks. Another four are fugitives.
Jury deliberations in the case against Daniels began today. (UPDATE: Young Jeezy arrested on unrelated charges; Daniels convicted on one count.)

Jeezy has slipped thru the cracks long enough…..What I don’t understand is why is Mara still jeopardizing credible witnesses in her articles while she is trying to get her story out? Has she not yet learned the art of how to report the news without putting people in danger?

Nupoc, I see you aren’t a researcher of grammar. Don’t worry about the G-Code. Get your GED.
Re Jeezy:
Stupid. Prime example of someone successful with marginal talent who can’t leave the streets behind. If it’s true, he deserves what he gets.

While society at large crucifies our young African American males whether they have reached a certain status in stardom or if they are ghetto superstars, we as fellow African Americans are not any better when we comment openly on blog such as this in a negative manner. The reporter of this column is doing his/her job which is to gather and report news, as for a newspaper, wire service, or television station. The unbiased journalism on the BMF family should serve as a source of enlightenment to all who read the article as to the pitfalls of selling narcotics to your people. In life you have to play the hand that you were dealt, if in fact Jezzy is found to be accountable for the accusations made against him, then again, WE the public have yet been dealt another blow from an influential African American male, who seemingly tried to escape his past, but once again if its done in the dark it always comes to light. As far as the G-code and no snitching policy, I am firm believer in that if you were enjoying whatever the game was providing to you, it is unethical and against thug standards to “snitch” on someone else when you get caught, if that persons game was a little tighter than yours and they had their operation tight, don’t hate the player, hate the game.

I have to agree with Book Smart, I hate to say it but jeezy is going down, all they gotta do is get about 3 more people to say he sold such an such amount, and he is a goner.
June 17th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
I agree with Piltar. Stop selling the white man drugs!! Yeah I know its hard to get a job sometime but find another grind and dont depend on their jobs or DRUGS to pay your bills. As black people we need to put money back in our own community and create our own jobs the Asians do it they make sure the whole family up in the salon. Futhermore black men be there for your children who cares what you think about their mother or your own selfish reasons. Black men we need you to be strong again and take your places in America which is not behind bars!! Nita in Florida love her people and peace to all Im out.

Peace All,
Man, I am hurt for you Ills! I know/knew you for a long time and I can’t come see you for my own reasons but I know for a fact that they over exaggerated your situation (number three in the organization, come on gov!!!). He didn’t ever know Meech but for a little over a year, if that! And the rats are a mess! I went to the clubs and parties with Ills and he will forever have a friend who does not sell anything but legal things. They may hit you with 20 or even 30, but there is still a change on appeal! All the evidence against you my brother was hear say, with is okay by gov standards. But I know you are not the kingpin they pined on you! You were and are a true stand up dud, which are few in this time & day! For the posters, we are all messed up as black people because we don’t stick by each other and they have us kill each other in more than one way, writing, guns, drugs, you name it. There are so much we all can do. And my brother or sister who said we can’t get a job and it’s hard, please, understand that you can make jobs & if you happened to get a job, do the very best you can! More than anything, my heart goes out to his kids because they are most hurt by this (and the many other kids in our community). But he told me to tell you all that he is still strong and will hold his head up regardless for a mistake that costs him his life in jail, but not guilty in the way they portrayed! I will speak on his behalf at sentencing, so stay tune!!! It’s not over yet… As far as the murder, heart goes out to his family members… But as far as Ills doing it, that is not true! These people are lying to save their own butz and will do anything. It is a messed up system! Also, there should be a law introduced that makes prosecutors liable for evidence they knowingly hide that could exonerate a defendant. The prosecutor should get the same time they are trying to get a defendant. And then only then should the lying stop from the team with unlimited resources!
Peace!
