JB,

Thank you for chiming in and the clarifications. As to legalizing weed...I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Not meant as a low blow or a cheap shot, just a little good ole fashioned poking fun at a stereotype by repeating said stereotype. I hope it wasn't too tone-deaf. Take care and feel free to get in touch with me at thomas(dot)wheatley(at)cln(dot)com if you'd like to keep me posted on LP events.

Thomas, I would like to clarify some issues mentioned in your post concerning the Libertarian Party candidates.

1st, The LP does not have a nominating primary because we are prohibited by law to have one, which is how all political parties should conduct elections. The LP does not use taxpayers dollars to nominate its candidates. They hold a state and national convention, at their own expense, and selected the candidates.

2nd, you state, “Both are running unopposed in their respective districts.” The PSC race is a state wide race but you must live in the perspective district to run. LP PSC candidates qualified for the ballot in June. They are not “unopposed”. Givens has D&R opposition in Dist. 4 and Monds will face off in a 2 way race with H. Doug Everett, the yes man of Stan Wise. Everett has never met a rate increase he didn’t like.

3rd, the comment on legalizing weed is cute, but Libertarian can regulate their own weed... thank you. Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter told Congress in 1977: "Penalties against drug use should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against the possession of marijuana in private for personal use."

Even liberals get it!

Thanks, JB

While I am a contributor, I am not, as you put it, a "shill" or plant. As a voter, I have every right to endorse and campaign for my candidate of choice. I would think it above the candidates themselves to get personally involved and take shots such as this.

I encourage everyone to watch the debates. An educated voter is good for democracy. I am the Libertarian Candidate for the fourth district. Please visit my website at www.votegivens.com.

Rate regulation is the big stick that the PSC uses to encourage our monopoly electric and natural gas suppliers to promote programs that benefit Georgian energy conservation efforts.

Another comment from a shill of Jim Powell. Time is past when affability and outdated policy is a substitute for competence in the braod range of technologies that will be required to get this state into the 21st Century.

I really think this race will come down to Powell and McDonald. Davidson came off as a total flake in the debate and Indech seemed more like he should be on the PSC staff than an actual Commissioner.
