Great post Jason! A perfect snapshot to get “newbies” up to speed, yet enough detail to keep loyal fans interested…and wanting more. It’s amazing how far the sport has come, especially given the steep and sometimes rough climb to this point. So exciting!! Can’t wait for the “mainstream morality” discussion. Great post!! The mediocre success of the PRIDE fighters was really surprising to MMA fans the world over, and really goes to show how fierce the competition is here in the states despite it’s relatively young age.

The Bonnar vs. Griffin fight really was a huge HUGE milestone in defining modern MMA. Now our hometown boy is recognized as one of the best mixed martial artists in the world!!

Wow! Great post! I couldn’t agree more that the Griffin-Bonnar fight for the Ultimate Fighter 1 finale was essential for the sport’s growth to what it is today. The UFC and Dana White couldn’t have possibly imagined a better match for their free TV debut.
